Exercise ...Before dinner? ....or after dinner?

For the purposes of this thread, I done a test.

I normally always do my morning run then eat once I’m finished. Today I after last night (football) I didn’t get up early enough. I went for a run after eating dinner and bloody hell it was awful. I kept burping.

Each to their own but I’ll be eating after or waiting a couple of hours.

I find it's something your body adapts to. For long distance running you need to get used to running after food as you need to eat mid-run to keep fueling your body (for genuine long events where a few gels won't cut it).

Also depends on what you eat. I've ran after something like a roast dinner and been fine providing i don't overeat, but i've had some awful experiences running after eating a bowl of chilli!

Walking after a meal can give you heartburn.

Do whatever feels comfortable for you.

I always run and swim and lift weights on an empty stomach.

Cycling I can do straight after eating.

I exercise as fasted as I can. I ran the Yorkshire Three Peaks after 4 slices of toast and a banana about an hour prior.

I mostly run on my dinner break and eat afterwards. I feel too heavy and bloated otherwise.

You ideally I think should eat small energy dense food and give yourself a bit of time before setting off. I just go with what my body tells me though.
