experts, is ebay user having me on?

Credit Consumer Act 2007 - Purchases have a 14 day grace period after purchase if the buyer doesn't need/want/or ask for it.

The Credit Consumer Act 2007 covers purchases made on credit, which is for when people purchase goods using a credit card or other forms of credit.

Prediction:
Buyer has received a refund
Seller (OP) is still waiting to see if the motherboard comes back

Optional:
Seller may have received an empty box, or a broken motherboard with a different serial number

Yeah what i believe and some others it seems is that they have screwed up on installing the cpu and bent the pins or worse. and now are using the ploy of no cover to return it so they may not get a loss.

Yeah this is one of the reasons i stay away from Ebay.

"Ooops I think i may have bent or broken some of the pins on the motherboard oh well time to sent it back to seller and say that theres no cover or its broken"

Tell him to ignore the missing cap and continue with the build, offer him assistance if he needs it too.

He's either a retard or a scammer, take your pick. He should know that socket covers go straight in the bin along with cable ties and torn open plastic bags.

Personally I would have fought him as the listing specifically states what is included with the motherboard ("box, manual and cd") and if something is not listed it should be assumed it's not there. Especially as eBay's definition of used (which they add onto the listing) is: "An item that has been previously used. The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear, but is fully operational and functions as intended." That basically tells a buyer not to expect any throw-away accessories.

What I don't get is, if the buyer is genuine. (Doubt this, he's broke something).

Why didn't he just try the board anyway, why kick up a fuss over something so small without actually trying it, as at the end of the day he would now have a working PC?

Definitely sounds like the buyer has done something to the board (bent pins etc.)

Like who would buy a board and not start building their pc just because of a socket protector being missing, its a used board anyway and most people don't save the socket protectors...

if you send the board off for rma or back to factory is says no socket cap = no repair.

hes prob realised hes bent a pin asked for the cap so he can send it back for rma.

i sold a mobo on oclockers forum and someone bent some pins but instead of moaning and asking for a refund cos i sent a faulty board ( which i know for a fact was 100% working which incidentaly had the plastic cover installed ) he admitted doing it and apologised, check my trust.

thats the difference between ebay and overlockers users ;)

Some day I wrote a review or guide @ Ebay regarding to untrustful users. I named them straight by nick, describing my stories with my personal thoughts. I don't know why, but it was deleted by Ebay. Political correctness harms more than brings profit, it seems and they try to be more Catholic than the Pope apparently.
