Explain Bailiffs to me

Well actually yesterday (wednesday) the woman told my wife that it was their last day on wednesday.
At around 18:30 my wife called us all into the back kitchen where we watched the woman put a red tub on top of the Jacuzzi, undo a bunch of flowers and put them in the red tub :confused:
We took it as a 'farewell house' gesture although a strange thing to do.

They sound like a really strange bunch of people tbh.

Well, there you go. I expect that they are still clearing stuff out, so have had to extend the deadline.

This tbh...

The bailiffs prob need to accompany them to ensure they don't attempt to change the locks/re-take possession of the house as they'd then perhaps have to go through the process of evicting them again.

I'd presume the bailiff needs to unlock the door for them and wait until they've got whatever possessions they came for etc..

Because up until the credit crisis, banks quite happily gave out credit to anyone.

I had a friend who was only 23 a few years ago and he had rung up £70,000 worth of debt over numerous credit cards. Families can pull even more.

When I've seen those Bailiff type shows on TV, they are the first things to go. If they really have nothing of value, they will face going before a judge and could be given a prison sentence.

Saw it happen to one fairly old woman who couldn't make any repayments and had nothing of value, so it was actually quite harsh to see.

If it's a council property... perhaps all the removing of animals is because they aren't supposed to have them?

Well looking at some of your other posts regarding what's going on and all the details of what and who has gone in and out and the number of times they've been in an out etc, maybe they too will be glad to get away.... from nosey neighbours :p

If they were indeed the NFH, just be thankful they've gone but remember, no matter how bad they might have been or seemed, they've still lost virtually everything so I'd still say forget about dobbing them in over the 4 x 4 - they have enough problems!
 
Have they actually been to court? I thought bailiffs had no right to enter your premises without a court order that permits them to reclaim property up to the value of the debt?

I had a parking ticket a few months back that I refused to pay and they were threatening me with bailiffs to reclaim property up to the value of the ticket. A quick word with the family solicitor cleared up that until they secured a court injunction they were powerless to do so unless I allowed them to. In fact, for bailiffs to pester you is actually a criminal offence.
 
If I'd had 15 years of torment then I'd be the first to ring the council and report the car as being abandoned. Last nail in the coffin and good riddance.

They don't GAF about the neighbours.
I've watched the old woman next door slowly crumble over the years to a gibbering wreck and she blames them on her husbands death.
It has been very hard to stay out of the abuse she has got virtually daily from the woman.
The house next to them has seen fisticuffs with the last 3 male owners and all have cleared out.
In fact because the last one knew he wouldn't be able to sell he gave the house to his sons and moved elsewhere.
There has also been fisticuffs with 2 males opposite them but they are still there.
I've been the only one who has spoken to them because I fix their pc's and look at their AV stuff and he was useful because he is a gasman.
Good riddance.
