External hard drive for a Sony Bravia?

Hello!

I've got a 32" Bravia KDL-32W653A, which has a hard drive recording facility that I've been using but, for some reason, the hard drive makes the TV 'reboot' on occasion so I'm wondering if there is a specific hard drive that should be used for recording?

I have stopped using the hard drive for recording and the TV performs flawlessly so I know the hard drive is responsible for the reboots.

I'm using a bog standard 2.5" laptop drive in a IcyBox external enclosure. Does anyone here use a Bravia for recording TV?

im not familiar with the enclosure you are using, but, is it a powered device or a usb powered one?

It's USB powered.

i think thats your problem, its drawing too much power from the usb

usually there good for usb bus powered devices

get a 32gb micro sd card use that as temp see if it same problem

I'm not sure about a micro sd card because of the lack of capacity; I'd still need to get another hard drive afterwards so I think probably the best option is to get a caddie that can provide additional power.

It's proving to be more hassle than I thought.
