That caddy, shame about max being 80GB because I'd seen the potential of using a 100GB+ 2.5-inch drivemonkeybutt said:I bought the 2.5 laptop hard drive separate and put it into the caddy. I had the 40g Hard Drive cheap! Better to buy a separate enclosure as you can swap hard drives when the need arises.
Looking at backing up several machines + having movies in there (unbacked-up) & all for travelling with me, etc. That said 100GB+ might be overkill, considering the excellent job Acronis True Image doesmonkeybutt said:Well, i have a 40g in it and can't see the need for an 80g in one as i only need it for backups! Does the Job very well indeed.
Nah nothing bigger than 15GB & only about 4 machines. Through Acronis True Image roughly 14GB = 6GB archivemonkeybutt said:If you are going to back up several machines and films 100g might not be enough!!!

Are any of the external caddy's capable of being Bus Powered, i.e. don't require an external adapter & draw power from USB/Firewire??
Cheers
whatever said:i would add that going for a firewire connection is a safer move (faster and more likely to work on dfferent pcs).

i just bought one of these... not impressed at all... the case is flimsy plastic... i reckon i will break it within a month. I thought it was gonna be nice brushed aluminium. I should stop just hitting buy without thinking.
