Hi all, in need of help with the following:
Just competed a fresh format & install of Xp. I Have not added any new components, all hardware drivers are up to date, and yet when I connect my freecom Ext HD it will not work.
When connect the LED flashes for a bit and get the usual detected noise, then LED stays on as if detected. Only when I open it get the following "The request could not be performed because of I/O device error"
It is recognized in the system manager and in the Bios.
Full spec in Sig, any ideas?
Seems like a hub issue with power, only drive has its own external source.
Is there something I have missed in the Bios?

Ok tried it on another PC ?? Have you got Service Pack 2 installed ? (I'm sure you have)

Do you have any other usb devices (such as memory stick ?) you can try.

Have stick and that works fine, maybe its just foooked:( but I can't see why it would be? I do have a laptop from work that I will have to try it on, it did work fine on this as well, so will have to see.
All other devices work, cam, printer etc.
Its detected not, light on, but as soon as I open it, nothing. Yeah have SP 2 installed. And have updated chipset drivers, al a loss.
Cheers for your help Behmoth, if you can think of anything else, much appreacated. P

Well if the drive has had it depending on how old it is may depend on if you eant to try this, but I would crack open the enclosure and then put the drive in your PC, if that doesn't work then I'd say it's had it.

Hmm just another one, and I'm sure you've tried that too but try a different usb cable ?
