External or Internal

Ok going to format my hard drive install to clean up the mess on it. Question is i would like to transfer my music files etc to another hard drive while i format.

Should i get another internal SATA hard drive and use exclusively for files i want to keep, or an external hard drive so i can just transfer back and forth between?

If you're going to buy another drive I'd go with an external one. That way you have a drive which can be switched off when not in use so it's protected from power spikes, viruses, users etc. It also gives you the flexibility of having something that you can use to transfer stuff between 2 PCs.

I am going to do the same myself. I will be buying a separate hard drive and enclosure.
