I have 2 internals (one is 1.5TB, one is 2TB) and two externals mirroring each external (again one is 1.5 and one is 2)
The two externals should never be accessed apart from at 6pm when my backup starts. But during the day I notice they randomly switch on and off, and sometimes programs wait to start up until the externals have powered up. It's frustrating because I'm using an SSD which should be fast.
I usually put my PC to sleep which then powers down the externals, that's ok. Is it a power setting I'm missing?
It's not a huge issue but they're pretty noisy externals so it'd be nice not to have to hear them every 10 minutes.
They have become worse with booting up and down since Windows 8.1. I wonder if something's been reset?
