Extreme Trainsurfing

I see where you are coming from Fox, but he was riding the train not actaully mucking around on the tracks,

The chances of the train driver ever knowing that the chap ever fell off the train he was driving are very small. ( If he did fall off ;) )

I think he is a complete legend, and chose an amazing way to end his last few months alive.

And what happens when he falls off, breaks every bone in his body and is left lying on the track?

Ah yes, another train comes along.

Pathetic :(

Few train drivers ever work again after killing a suicider/moronic tresspasser and no amount of counselling will ever make things normal for them.

I know of plenty of train drivers that have returned to work after a suicide, it takes them a while but they do go back.

(I work for a large transport company in N.Ireland)

Its quite well known actualy..

I don't know where i heard it, but most train drivers can't go back to their jobs after hitting someone,

Imagine being in control of something which you can't stop, you jam the brakes on the train and bang.

Splattered person all over your train, and its your fault in your eyes, because you couldn't stop...

It's LOSE!!!! Grr!!

Pretty lame video in my opinion. He's hardly surfing it is he? More like clinging onto the back of it. I agree with Fox -- if he wanted to get kicks there are far better ways to go about it (skydiving etc..). Who knows, he even could have raised a fair amount of money for charity if he was so inclined.

I find that hard to believe. An Ambulance driver friend of mine has peeled countless people from roads, including people he knows, and he manages to go back to work. Don't these train drivers get prepared for this eventuality?

They are trained for this and fully understand that there is a very good chance that it will happen at least once in their career, and mostly likley more than that.

I dont see how anyone could blame themselves in that situation.

The ambulance driver gets there to fix people. The train driver actually sits there and watches as the train HE is in control of runs a live human over and often horrifically fatally injurs them. He has to sit and watch this, and there is nothing he can do.

It's not the same thing at all. No human should go through that and without selfish idiots trainsurfing, tresspassing and using this as a method of a suicide, they wouldnt have to.

i take my hat off to the guy for having the stones, especially when others put in the same position facing death in the near future would be more likely to throw them selves at the train.

admittely i hope it doesnt inspire others to do the same and get injured but from watching the video it actually excited me which few things seem to do these days.

the guy probably has acheived more noterity than most of us ever will very touching film.

I'm sorry, I don't buy it. Yes, train drivers are 'in control', but not to the extent they could possibly be at fault for killing someone in these circumstances. busman seems to speak from an informed position.

If I was in his position I'd probably do the same thing. What's a bit of risk when you know you're going to die anyway? Fair play to the guy

Ditto.

To be honest I think it's pretty cool, but obviously pretty selfish and stupid...

The rush must be awesome!! Then again I like dangerous things...

May he rest in peace.

No they may not blame themselves , and yes they may have training but nothing will prepare you for seeing someone die infront of you like that. No mater what justification and of you lot on here come up with it was stupid moronic and selfish what he did, im totally with fox on this.

Not really. I rather admire him.

well there's a problem. It's a certainty that at least one person is going to try this themselves because of him specifically.

(also to get that video camera on the track would have involved walking on the lines... [reply to one of the other posts.. too lazy to scroll down :p])

At the end of the day he had nothing to lose, and I'd probably want to do the same thing myself if I knew I was to die.

I can see where Fox is coming from, though - train drivers can be very distressed, after wiping another human off the planet. But on the plus side, beknown to the driver, the boy wouldn't really have cared.
