Extrememly annoyed with XFX

Should either give you the cash back or get you to send the other card back and send you a pair of 640mb gts's.
That aint going to happen.

As there is no 7900GTX repalcement cards & they are unable to fix said card, then they are entitled to send you a card of equal value / performance as you current card. The fact that it cannot work in SLI with the 2nd owned card is irrelevant.

But how is the 7950 GT 512 of equal performance and value to the 7900 GTX? The 7900 GTX is selling second hand for what a new 7950 can be bought for, and the 7900 is better in ever benchmark that I've seen. I'm not sure about the core and pipelines though.

jesus bad luck here m8 :(

i rmaed my 7900gs 256 mb gfx card got an email back saying ive a replacement which is a 7950 gt ko 512 mbs card :P

I don't see the problem; they gave you closest they could to match your card. Its going on what its worth now and the original price you paid for it is irrelevant.

Unfortunately for you the closest in value/performance right now is the 7950GT, the 7950GX2 obviously costs a bit more so there’s really no reason why they should send you one as a replacement.

Obviously XFX disagree. :(

Im sure if you wait a few months when there is an 8600GTX, you may just get that as a repalcement. :p

I'm still waiting for them to get back to me. TBH I can't be bothered with the whole process, I may just give up and sell the 7950 GT and save the cash for something else. My single 7900 GTX performs well enough for me at the moment anyway.

yeah bummer...the 7950GT is definitely a slower card than the 7900GTX. It has slower memory and the core clock runs 100mhz slower as well.

Makes for around a 300 pt difference in 3dmark06...... and the 7950GT gets about 70% the FPS that the 7900GTX does in Prey at 1280x1024 according to tomshardware.

XFX does not sell its Product directly to the consumer therefore the warranty for XFX Products remains the responsibility of your reseller where you purchased the Product.

I'd get your mate to nag the place he got it from as "apparently" it's their problem not XFX.

But, it goes on to -

Should you experience any difficulty obtaining a fair and proper warranty service from any of our Resellers please do not hesitate to contact us via the Support Ticketing System where we will do our best to help you.

So nag em both, as I said you are entitled to a card equal or better than your RMA'ed one, which as we all know, your's isn't!

Got this reply after I asked why they sent me a 7950 GT:

Hi,

The reason you’ve got a better card is because the original went end of life. The warranty states either repair or better model.

Do XFX employee's take smack? Honest to god, I'm never going near them again, and I hope anyone on here who reads this thread who has an ounce of sense follows suit

What clocks are the 7950gt that they have given you.

Edit: I bet they mean the model number. They probally thinking they could get away given you a 7950gt as its higher than a 7900gtx.

Did you actually bother to ask whether you could upgrade or not (and pay the difference)?

XFX just supplied you with a card which market value matches that of the used 7900GTX this just happens to be a 7950GT.

Considering the 7900GTX is no longer made coupled with the fact that XFX didn't know you want to upgrade what exactly are they meant to do?

Just sent the following:

Hi,

I fail to see how the 7950 GT 512 is a better model then the 7900 GTX 512. Just because it's a higher model doesn't mean it's better and I'm well aware of that fact. You said yourself that you replace with equal or better cards, so I suggest you authorise that as soon as possible as I feel I have been messed around for long enough already.

I know that the tone of this message isn't good, but I feel that I'm being messed around and have been for long enough. All I want is a replacement for my broken GPU, equal or better.

Chris.

The reply you will get is that you have received a card that is of equal market value as the card that was broken. Performance of the card in this case appears to be irrelavant as there isn't anything XFX make that is of equal performance and price to the 7900GTX.

7950GT is close enough, they were only ever going to send him a 7950GT or a 7950GX2, for obvious reasons they sent him the GT.
