You find that portrait gives you a nicer image?

Yes in general I prefer portrait for FPS my normal staple, however racing games Landscape is the winner and the bezels really are a non issue in my opinion in landscape. It is of course not hard using profiles to switch between landscape and portrait.

Need for speed shift in landscape is particularly good.

Displayport DVI adapators do not work unless they are an "active" adapter and they are quite expensive ($100ish).

My setup includes a dell displayport monitor.

So much hate for bezels in here

The fact is you concentrate on the centre screen, the bezels make no difference what so ever, you barely notice them.

To say eyefinity is a gimmick is just idiotic, multi monitor gaming has been going for years, eyefinity is not new.

Edit: You may find this interesting also, but you'll need a tonne of cash and a air raid shelter to fit in it.

About half way down you'll see. 3x Projectors.

That thread is insane! I love it!

*goes out to buy a lottery ticket*

the fov in competitive gaming would be a massive help advantage . drools at some of the thoughts and crys at money needed to do three projectors :D

they will never be able to get rid of bezels completely off monitors, make them smaller yes. thats about it

I wouldnt be so sure of that, they keep getting thinner and at some stage in the future will probably be transparent when setups like this one become more common.

The active displayport adaptors do work but they add to the cost by approx $100 if u can get it from the US or €100 from Netherlands. Stock in EU is almost non-existent hence the huge price but it does work, see: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18058402&highlight=username_creed&page=5 we're still waiting OCUK :D

Now if only more multiplayers games let you change the FOV for multi monitor setups.
MW2 says no because of balance yet CSS does

I already had a 22" cheapo Hans G 221 TFT (£107 sort of cheap) and my wife had said she would buy me a new one for my birthday late October and so it occured that for another £107 I could go Eyefinity.
For the centre monitor I chose a Dell P2210 it being about the cheapest displayport monitor available at the time while still getting decent reviews and looking to be a good match for the cheaper Hans Gs.

Hi Domi, I'm looking to do the same thing as in using 2 cheapo 22" monitors (max 1680x1050 16:10) and buying the P2210 for the centre monitor. But that is a 1080 monitor 16:9 so I was wondering if that causes any issues with eyefinity + it's 21.5", do you notice the size difference at all?

Eyefinity needs all 3 monitors to be the same resolution as far as im aware. You might have to drop the 1080 down to 1050. Shouldnt be a huge problem. Some text may look abit distorted in places tho (I ran my 1050 at 1024 for crysis and small text looked blury along a small section of the screen)

Ah as long as it won't look too bad I won't mind, I was just worried that 16:9 wouldn't scale up to 16:10 too well. Might have to go ahead with the purchase then ;)

For such small monitors in portrait mode you might as well get 1 large monitor and benefit from higher definition and better panel quality as well as lack of bezels, although somewhat more expensive.

Obviously in landscape thats a different issue. While a good set up I cant see myself doing eyefinity with anything less than PVA panels not cheap TN panels, at different viewing angles you're going to get differences in colour and brightness not to mention fairly bad image quality.

24" 1920x1200 landscape seems like the sweet spot for me.

I think thi is a great step forword, could be well implamented into 3d enviromants for wrap around displays, imagine being able to walk to a corner nudge forword turn your head to the left and actually see around a corner. thats immersive gameplay!!! its all coming, developmant will be here soon.
