So a lot of people are loving the fact that Multi-monitor gaming has started to become more popular, as a major company has now supported this feature we will be seeing a lot more of this in the upcoming months.

Although this has been around for a while in the form of Matrox's adapters and cards, but there has always been the questions and complaints such as:

"But the bezels will get annoying and get in the way"

"I don't understand it, does it just stretch the current image"

"Why don't you just get a 30"+ HDTV"

"Multi-Monitor (Eyefinity) gaming is a gimmick"

"I don't see the point, i see that already on my current screen (?)"

"Eh"

Now this is the reason I've created the thread, to show why we do this sort of setup. The extra FOV advantage, the immensely immersive gameplay, less cluttered screen space are just some of the reasons, but like always we need screenshots.

Now i've done these myself by adding a 1680x1050 above a 5040x1050 for comparison, to show how much extra FOV we actually see, and hopefully turn a few heads our way :D

Now i've tried to do semi decent shots that will show the best results, action scenes would obviously be very handy but are very hard to capture and compare. More will be coming soon as some of my own have gone missing.

All images are done at max settings, including those in the ATI CCC.
Feel free to add your own images etc, the more the merrier.

One thing i dont like is where the HP bars and maps ect are, i would prefer them to be on the central screen like L4D2.

I would find it a pain in the ass having to turn my head to check HP and map positions.

You can tweak this in a lot of games. Any any game that truely supports multi monitor gaming does it automatically.
Any valve game can do this by editing simple files.

Me want.

What card(s) are you running Unknown sock?

Currently using just a single 5870 @ 920/1300, 24/7
no driving games !!!!

I imagine playing with the extra monitors adds a new dimension to the games... one day, one day I'll get a tripleHeadGo thingy !!!!

nice pics

Grid + Dirt 2 pictures coming tonight!

the bars would annoy me like hell
The thing is you don;t notice the bezels when playing.
I guarantee if you had a go off my system for a couple of days, you would find it hard to go back.

what type of setup do you need to run this?

2+ Monitors (obviously :p), Triplehead 2go Adapter / 57**-58**-59** card.

I'm currently using:

C2Q 9300 @ 3.0 Sometimes 3.4, but my RAM is buggered.
4gb DDR3 RAM @ 1333
5870 @ 920/1300
2x500gb Samsung F3's, in raid 0.

Nothing major, although at this res, AA will have a massive effect on performance. I am able to play MW2 maxed out with x4 AA though with a little OC.

i7 setup coming in Jan, so should be more comfortable.

Well i'm going to be adding examples of fish eye effects. Regardless of what people think it happens at all resolutions, and in all game engines. It is just more obvious when at this extreme.

Like I've added earlier you do not concentrate on the outer screens. Bezels are not a problem, from a picture like so and first glance you may think this but you soon forget about them.

If i moved my centre monitor further forward it would just mess up the alignment of the whole setup tbh.

Excellent post buddy. You got me more intrigued.1. I have 2 X 5770s in crossfire. Will I get the full crossfire performance through eyefinity?
Currenty eyefinity + crossfire only works through a 5970, and limited, hopefully we will see it with the next driver.

Excellent post buddy. You got me more intrigued.2. Obviously there are 2 DVI and 1 HDMI on each of the 5770s.
Could I use one of the other 2 DVI ports on the second 5770 in crossfire for this eyefinity setup?
Well when crossfire works, you probably will just be able to use any port on the second card for your third monitor, although unconfirmed.

Excellent post buddy. You got me more intrigued.3. How easy is it to setup for games? Do certain games need to be "eyefinity" compatible or do they all work with them?
Nowadays a lot of games do work.
Its either a config.ini edit, a specific hack, or it will run native.
If it doesn;t work sometimes it will just scale a smaller aspect ratio up to your screens and it will be massive -vert, meaning your missing a lot of the top and bottom of your view.

Excellent post buddy. You got me more intrigued.4. You mentioned about bezel effect etc. Presumably the image on the 2 side screens will match (where one finishes the other monitor will continue) and not leave out anything because of the monitor bezels as such?
yes but in another driver ATI will introduce bezel management which will smooth out all alignment with monitors.

Excellent post buddy. You got me more intrigued.5. I would love to see benchmarks of eyefinity setups actually, are there any around?
Google WSGF, should find it on that forum ;)
Aslong as you have a decent setup you will be fine, the main factor is AA.

Looks amazing but overkill just to play a game on a pc, I mean how much are those monitors? Great if you use them for you work but for gaming OTT

Well there amazing for general use and even more so for photoshop and illuatrator which i also do.
But why would i give you screenshots of photoshop?

Nothing is overkill for gaming.

The bezel spoils it. Bring on some OLED monitors, not for some time yet but maybe then i'll take a liking to multiple montior setups for gaming.

The bezels do not spoil it. Everyone says that until they try it.
People presume thats all you stare at. They make no difference what so ever.

Your focal point is not on them.

Right sorry about that i updated something in my photobucket account earlier, everything should be as normal now. Got some screenshots that I've also got in my folders, little busy atm so havne't had enough time to go digging :)

damn I need to get an eyefinity setup, looks like it will be awesome for racers

also, in l4d2, have you tried 8v8 in eyefinity, if so was wondering how many names it showed across the bottom ;)

Not a massive fan of racers in recent years but this setup has rekindled my love for them ;) It really does shine with these type of games.

Your able to hack the HUD files in valves source games so its all fixable, if need be. Havn't got L4D2 yet so i can't say by default rly.

Quick question (possibly silly) - do we need 3 x monitors of the same size. How about a 28" in the middle and then 2 x 23" either side.

Okay, thinking about it, it's probably better with 3 of the same!

Ignore me. Haha

Doesn't matter about dimensions, they just all need to be running at the same resolution.
Personally i think 3 of the same monitor looks the best.
