5850 is actually availabe now.
If you was to buy the 5850 I would advise you grab them now before xmas as they might end up flying off the shalves as xmass pressies :p

Plus the fact that VAT is going back up to 17.5% in Jan 1st doesn't help if you're intending to wait.

For high resolutions such as these i'd recommend a 5870 and get another cheap next year.

AA cripples any game with decent graphics and i cant imagine playing with many DX11 features.

I thought the amount of ROPS the 5870 had meant that it could handle AA fine? Except on massive resolutions, but I can't see the need for AA on 5760x1080.

Well im running 5040x1050, and x2AA makes a huge difference.
Obviously its standable, but does look a helluva lot better.

I can run COD:MW2 fine with x2 AA, bump it up to x4 AA but becomes unstable, due to heat.
Dirt 2 is another story..

I can run dirt 2 at about 35 FPS with everything on Full apart from Post Processing with 4x AA at 5760x1080 with my 5870. Not had any heat issues as of yet. Everything is running fairly well for me bar Dirt 2 struggles abit with all the DX 11 features but I think a 5850 would struggling on a few other games as well.

If you want to game at huge resolutions you are going to have to make the sacrifice of losing some AA. I'll post some information about my setup which might help you :)

At 2xAA it's very similar at around 37-40fps, I run with v-sync at 30fps any ways :p

4xAA fps isn't as stable as 2xAA so I stick at 2 generally. To be honest I can barely tell the difference, but I think Dirt 2's engine handles AA very well so you don't need crazy amounts of AA.

well thats the idea, wait till after xmas plus better drivers and Nv will hopefully be around to drive prices down, they don't look much faster through.

Nice, what is FPS at 2xAA and can u see much difference eyecandywise?

x2 AA is perfectly fine, ideally i'd want x4 but thats life :)
x2 with everything on high, with the dirt 2 benchmark i get 55 average FPS.
@5040x1050.

Probably could max it all out but id rather have that extra fps.
