F.E.A.R 2, The official thread.

Love it so far

Hate the fact I can't map my side mouse buttons

F.E.A.R sucks without them

Grenade and Slow Mo were really easy to get to

You can map your side mouse buttons, you just map them to the keyboard.:)

Its a cracking blag-fest, im on trying to get out of the Replica Training Facitily now. :D

Completed it today...bit of a let down to be honest :(

Way too short, hated the sound of incoming gunfire (sounds like someone tapping on a tin roof), and didn't like having to keep tapping the melee key to push away Alma and Colonel Vanek. Oh, and the ending was pretty poor too.

I loved the original...but this one, hmmmm.

Well its the fact they are on the keyboard thats the let down

With the original, it was all just a click away of my mouse, meant I rarely had to touch the keyboard apart from WASD

I was thinking of getting this but reading through here I see that peeps think the original was the better game.

On Steam this is £25, but on another etailer website selling games they have a special edition (for an extra £5) which includes both games. Worth getting?

Id say its worth getting if you havn't got the first one. :)

I've just been googling around to see if the original FEAR would work on Vista 64. There just seems to be post after post about problems with it or not being 64 bit compatible :(

Has anyone here run the original FEAR on Vista 64 ok?

The first FEAR bored the crap out of me.... is this one any better?

Id say its better, more of a supernatural feel to it. Its a very clever game and there are moments where shadows will look like people, you think you see things moving, etc etc.

On a different note, IGN have written a good review for those debating whether to get it or now, warning though, it does contain some spoilers;

Not sure about FEAR itself, but I had Extraction Point running fine on my Vista 64 rig a few weeks ago. Looks very dated now, I was surprised.

I played FEAR on Vista 64 so, yes is the answer! But its booooooooooooooooooring!

Baaah, i get that pretty much every day anyway.... insomnia sucks :(

Maybe ill get the demo first. Cheers

I played the demo of this, seemed pretty poor to be honest.

The whole 'creepy little girl' angle was on thin ice 4 years ago when the original game came out, now it's just flat out tedious. All the 'scares' are just as boring as they were in the original, and the gunplay and AI have taken a step backwards meaning most of the cool combat moves you have are completely pointless.

The mech bit in the demo was also rather lame, I don't feel it really added anything to the experience. It also threw so many weapons at me within the space of 5 mins, again half of which seemed pretty redundant.

It doesn't sound like the full game is any better . . .
