F.E.A.R pack

I'd say yeah, good games. The first one is probably the scariest out of the bunch and the two expansion packs to it are big games in their own right, especially by todays standards.

Prepare to quite possible need to wear a nappy though if you play using surround sound at night :P

lol cheers :) i cant see when the offer ends though :(

I was looking at this and I downloaded the demo of the first FEAR to have a try but it looks like crap and runs like a dog. I know it's not my specs as it's quite an old game, is there something i'm missing?

It's all pixelated, graphics and textures missing and the frame rate is in single figures all the time, dropping to 1-2 fps in a firefight.

hmmm.........might give this a miss then.

Give the demo a download and try it for yourself. It might well be something obvious i'm overlooking.

Not bad games but I'd have expected a 66% reduction, bearing in mind the usual Steam reductions you see on games that old one might have expected to pay less than £9.99.

Tute regarding the issue you are having do you have any Logitech USB devices by any chance? I remember reading about some major issues people had with logitech usb drivers in FEAR causing huge slowdown, if you do it may be worth having a google around (cant remember the solution as it never affected me).

Also come to think of it the demo is probably a very bad indicator of the game as some major issues were fixed in patches after release, and the demo came out before the game (remember the days when that used to happen?!)

This first fear game has always been a strange one for performance..

Something holds it right back as my system only draws about 350watts went running the ingame benchmark...

I pay for my steam games with paypal all the time and it just takes the money straight from my bank account......There No need to transfer any money to my paypal account first..

This is a problem with the game and drivers for the logitech G series of keyboards (and maybe mice). I've had this too, and looking online you can find lots of others have too. Logitech and the game developers both blamed passed the buck claiming it was the other's problem, and so it never got fixed. Since it only affects Logitech keyboards, I know who I blame - and why i avoid Logitech mice and keyboards in case something like this happens again.

There is a solution, but it's a real pain:
go into windows device manager, and disable each Human Interface Device (HID) whose hardware device ID starts with VID_046

This will disable any special functions of the keyboard (multimedia keys, macro buttons, etc). It's not worth doing for one game IMO.

I downloaded the demo again this afternoon so i'll give it a whirl tonight.

As for Logitech, well, I find I hardly use the screen on the G19 anyway so i'm probably going to sell it and get a mechanical keyboard like the Steelseries 6Gv2.

The G9 is a little different - it's a nice mouse. Only mouse i've had that's better is my Habu and they're getting quite tricky to get hold of new these days.
