I think those heralding Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix as a sim might be viewing the game through rose-tinted nostalgia goggles.
The first game was arcadey enough to be playable through keys only - a wheel for the Amiga? Hah! - and had all the driving aids found in today's games: braking aid, steering aid[!], indestructability, racing lines, auto gears etc.
I suspect that the reason so many - including myself - have fond memories of Crammond's games is because they were accessible.
Regarding the trailer, I'm encouraged by the visuals, but I've been burned far too many times by passionate but unintentionally misleading dev diaries [I'm looking at you, Empire Total War!]
