F1 2011 season news / pre-season updates

I'm hoping that Ferrari can do something this year to stop the RBR cars. I would like to add McLaren to this, but I fear that McLaren have already given up on this season and are now fighting for the minor places. I hope I'm wrong.

Something tells me the unreliability that RBR had last year, isn't going to be a problem for them in 2011. Also, I think Webber will handled a lot better and won't be taking points away from Vettel as he did last year.

For the RBR/Vettel fans: it is not beyond the realms of possibility for Vettel to win 75% of the races this year, IF RBR produce another car which is 0.5-1s/lap faster than the competition (as they did last year)...and judging by Nuts' drunken mutterings, I think they have.

Season hasn't even started yet.

That is why I said, "I fear that...". This means that this is just a gut feeling, based on the problems that they have had during testing, compared to the free running and huge mileage that Ferrari and RBR have put in. The same sort of thing happened to McLaren in 2009 and we all know how that turned out.

I also went on to say, "I hope I'm wrong."

:p

I think this would be good in F1 for overtaking

http://www.planetf1.com/editorial/6788433/Time-For-More-PF1-Chicanery...-

Stay in one of the lanes 100 yds before the new chicane and stay in that lane till 100 yds after..

thoughts?

I actually had this idea a couple of years ago. Except rather than just a single island (as is shown in the image you posted), I thought of including a couple of corners.

In other words, drivers would have 2 routes to take, to get from A to B. If the car behind is faster than the car in front, then the car behind can take the alternate route, to see if he gets from point A to point B, faster than the slower car in front, who is using the "normal" route.

Brilliant. :D

Season hasn't even started yet.

about sums up sunama , mclaren have dog of a car , have given up already.

its all hamiltons doing when they win races ;) hes the only one who can use the kers button and the rear wing, because he has played on a playstation init :D

:p Ahh I laughed something terrible that day I read the playstation comment :D

well i know barrchello and schumacher will be fine with all the buttons because they were around in the 90s when remote controls for TV's and VCR's first started to apear covered in dozens of buttons.

Dismissing my comments before the season has even started...

I think you should at least wait for half the season to pass before doing this.

Unless of course, you are a time traveller and know something I do not.

Also, you failed to answer the question regarding KERS, and why Hamilton seemed to be the only one who actually made use of the device in 2009, to overtake cars. Strange that one.

Even Anthony Davidson has commented about the number of buttons on the steering wheel these days and the playstation generation. Not just me.

Anyway, in 10 months, we shall know if I was wrong or right.

The same guy who was F1 2010 playtester and eluded that the game is the closest thing to real Formula 1 racing?

Ferrari 2008 wheel.

I dont think adding a few more buttons is gonna make a whole lot of difference :) Infact, I've not heard any driver complain openly about "the number of buttons" on the wheel? (Genuinely)

EDIT: Interesting article here: http://www.f1racingfan.com/2010/05/14/ferrari-f10-steering-wheel-simplified/
No doubt it aint easy but thats what these guys are paid for and should be able to do blindfold.

Btw what was it you were stating that will be proven "right or wrong"? (Was it on the last page?)

yet your allowed to travel into the future and tell us mclaren have a dog of a car and they have already wrote the season off?

How about instead you remind us again who the other Kers drivers where?

That would be your answer, not that hamilton is better at pushing buttons.
