F1 2014 Rule Changes

Pushing the machinery to its limits is good, so I like having only 5 engines a season.

I don't like the fuel limits however.

The limit is necessary. No point in forcing everyone to use more efficient engines and then let them use unlimited fuel. The weight saving of less fuel also helps off set the increased weight of the power unit.

These new more conventional exhausts need to spit flames, could do with a bit more drama sound wise...!

I'm not sure that's completely right. I thought they had backtracked on the aero rules meaning the beam wing and barge boards/flickups would remain. And I think there is only a single exhaust outlet too.

I could be wrong.

It would seriously damage coverage to remove cameramen from the pit lane. They may impose mandatory safety clothing and helmets

Yep single exhaust but will be in the same place as shown.

5% maximum elevation and, intriguingly, allowed to be offset centre either side by some 14 cm but must be 18 cm behind the rear axle.

Will one team be brave enough to still try and harness exhaust gas, no matter what the purpose (stall rear wing?!)

Certainly going to be more interesting seeing these cars unwrapped than the last couple of years :)

There is a great article by Scarbs on the rule changes here - http://scarbsf1.com/blog1/2013/07/08/2014-rules-first-look/
