F1 2016

Two things I am loving at the moment -

Delta times - my goodness they add a lot to hot laps.

Weather - codies have always done this well. Time of day in Australia has a massive effect on the track lighting as it does in F1...but then some clouds started to roll in. Slowly blotting out the sun and then the threat of rain. Very impressive.
 
Managed a jammy quali position due to some bad weather. Glad the race objective is still realistic though. I always hated it when you would qualify high, but then they would give you some unrealistic race objective even higher again!
 
Well I managed to get myself into third place in the manor in Australia in light rain. Track starts to dry up (great to see different weather in different parts of the track) and my front left starts to overheat and wear. I decided against another pit stop, even though the team were telling me to - 3 laps left and my tyre goes pop. Pitted and ended up in 12th. Really fun.

Started with manor, full quali, half race, hard AI. A decent challenge, but also not soul destroying.

No, it is by far the best I have played from them.

Incidentally how does the game know that the times set are using the same settings /aids etc/

Or is there a time sheet for each type of aid used etc/

Also whatabout setups etc? Does it take that into consideration?

I think you used to race with us in the old F1 games? I could be wrong :p

I think there are individual time sheets, although you can see which aids have been used next to the times.

Just the default balanced setup. Haven't got the patience to fiddle :p

Moving to Bahrain I use a higher top speed preset for the straights.

To get the menus working I turned on vsync and the number under it to 2. It worked, but it kills performance. You could do it just to see the settings and once they are set you don't need to bother again in career mode.
 
Have put up a new time for Bahrain :)

I assume they are all equal like they have been in the past games.

That sounds weird. Crossfire here and using each core equally.

Thanks :) - I actually wasn't too pleased with it at the time, but actually can't touch it after trying a few hours later!

Much more pleased with my Bahrain time.

I really like how it gives you an online rival time to beat during the time trials.

Also the safety car - nearly drove into one of the cars in front of me and it was great seeing the AI locking up too with cold brakes. It also massively changed all of the strategies (and gave me a cheeky 6th position in the manor). The AI is great fun to race with too - can't say I was expecting them to move infront of me just before a braking zone :p

I'm falling into the same trap I did with Dirt Rally where I fixate on one car and one track trying to master it. Don't think I ever left Wales :( Now I'm looking for property in Melbourne.

Logitech force ex. Basically a budget DFGT I think.

Have changed to short race weekends in order to get through the tracks more quickly. A fair few new tracks that I don't know too well.

There are some impressive times on there, mostly without assists too. Many of them have clocked a lot of time on racing games.

I honestly can't remember if Australia was custom or not. Perhaps my best time was with the default setup. Bahrain definitely was custom.

I will have a crack at Australia again tomorrow and might dabble with setups.

Nothing more annoying than cutting a corner and invalidating your time, but then finding good pace in the last part of the lap!

I can see me losing a lot of time to this :D
 
Set some China times. 16th on the leader boards in the wet, well happy with that. Some of those ahead seem to have unreal levels of grip though. I was 6 tenths up on my next lap, then blew it at the end :(
