We're less than a couple of weeks away from the first of the 2023 F1 car launches, the changes won't be as radical as last year but it'll still be interesting to see how they're going to look.

Even in testing the cars displayed were just collecting data to correlate simulation work, you don't get to see a real car until it's lined up on the grid for the first race.

True, although they will be closer especially with it being only 3 days testing this year iirc? But still all the teams will have no doubt updates between testing and the first race again

It's still exciting to see what the teams show, We've put all the dates on the wall calendar at work. Sometimes there's a livery shock such as Alfa Tauri, or wondering how BWT were going to be incorporated on the Aston then the Alpine, or if the Sauber is going to be red and white or white and red. What shade of red will Ferrari be etc.

To an extent sure, it's the hundreds of videos on Youtube by self-declared experts pouring over the press images (or even renders) to claim why team X is gonna be great/terrible this year... meh.

I seem to be particularly negative today for some reason... :p

Of course these are real cars, they will be using the design definition available at the time when it is needed to be released to get something ready for the test session, it's just that they will evolve further before the first races starts and will continue to evolve throughout the season. The teams aren't going to waste time, resource and money creating a dummy car just for the preseason testing.

Just last season we had Aston Martin admitting they developed two concepts for their car pre-season and Mercedes bringing a dummy car to test in Barcelona before revealing the nopods in Bahrain.

That won’t happen this year, there is only one test. I could see Mercedes showing their livery on last years car then rolling out the new one in Bahrain on the first test day.

Sometimes it’s also fun to work out what sponsors have been dropped and spot any new ones.

Won't really know until the first race.

I expect the idea of circumventing the crash structure outlines regulation may have given Adrian Newey the opportunity to come up with something using those same freedoms.
Mercedes might also have a radically different concept.
I expect the Ferrari to look very similar.
