F1 - Bernie Ecclestone describes the new teams as an embarrassment

Do the slower teams get any allowances on weight restrictions? maybe allow them to reduce a bit of ballast, not so as to level the field, but at least make things a little safer more fun.
But I guess you then get into who should get a weight restriction allowance etc.

I think what is really an embarrassment is that HRT were allowed to use 4 drivers this year, fielding Yamamoto who clearly does not have the ability of an F1 driver purely because he carries some money with him.

What sort of message does it send out to fans and prospective drivers? It seems to me that it is a case of 'it doesn't matter how good you are, you will always be beaten by someone with no talent and a huge wallet'. How many other sports are there where you can buy your way to the top?

They are an embarrassment though. I mean 5 seconds off the pace sometimes is just pointless being on track let alone actually dangerous. Become more competitive or get out imo. And I love F1 by the way.

How do you expect them to be more competetive with the ban on in season testing, limited budgets (which is why the joined) and very limited time between being given entry and having to have a running car. This year was going to be nothing more than a glorified test and base season for next years cars. Next season will be the one to judge the teams on, if there is no progress towards the midfield then and only then should questions be asked about the future.
All three of the new teams were running within 107% of the more established teams so they were not in any way dangerous (No doubt someone will shout out about Webber & Kova in Valencia).
The only thing I think none of us can disagree on is how embarrassing the HRT management has been in terms of not just throwing drivers in the car willy nilly, but fallen through deals due to no money and the excuses that go with it.
