Well, Jenson thinks so, based on recent comments about 6 different winners.

My feelings are that certainly Monaco was really tedious but I've never thought much of the actual races at Monaco. As for the rest of the season, in some ways it's pretty much the same as the last few years - some teams get to grips with the new rules earlier than others and then at the end of the year the last few races show who is best.

Unless we get some stable rules I feel the same scenario will run out every year - it is still a three horse race with some fun injected by those that find a bit of luck.

F1 is on a knife edge, sadly one that WRC fell over some years ago.

Andi.

It's because we have had relatively stable rules, we have much of this unpredicatbility.
The top teams have lost there developed toys and the gap between cars is now extremely low. This means A few things.

1)When a new component comes on and you gain 0.1-0.2seconds. Rather than just closing the gap to the team in from, you can leap frog them.

2)Secondly, different cars have always done compretively well at certain tracks, again because the gaps are so small, this has a much bigger impact this year.

3) these tyres seem to have a smaller operating window and again because gaps are so small, this again has a much higher impact.

4)Lastly a car doesn't have 0.5s+ lead, so a mess up in qaulify for the last few years could have meant a few grid place drops at worse, the same this year can mean an entire fistful.

Oh as to fans getting bored, that happens every single year, people carry on watching. Most fans do not know what f1 is about. They forget that the driver makes up at best 50% of the package. This isn't a pure driver series. The cars are not the same and some seasons, is far more down to car than driver.

However, McLaren Team Principal Martin Whitmarsh disagrees with his driver and feels that the sport is enjoying its best season in years.

Whitmarsh said: "It's an enthralling sport at the moment.

"A few years ago people were talking about processional races, and the fact they were so predictable. Well, we certainly don't have a predictable season.

"I think an unpredictable race and an unpredictable season is what fans want.

"Right now the championship is anyone's to play for. We, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson can win it, and after six races that is good for the sport.

"If people now say this randomness is unattractive then that is a 180 to what people felt a few years ago.

"On balance I'm sure people want a lack of predictability. You want to go to each event not knowing who is going to win.

"You want to go through the course of the weekend not sure what is going to happen in each session.

"So far every one of our races this year has been very exciting."

In a serious reply though, its nice things are mixed up a bit, but it seems a little too random at times. If it settles down a bit later in the season then it'll be good.

I don't think things are that random when you look at the mistakes.

Ferrari had issues, Alonso has been consistently outperforming the car.
McLaren have been consistently fast, especially in qualifying, but they have just screwed up their races.
Red Bull have had consistently good race pace, but again squandered some results.
Williams have been much improved with solid finishes on the cards most races.

Thee is a core of consistency but with the margins being fractions of a percent small mistakes are making a big difference. You could probubly put 1 or 2 places Hamilton lost to under 1 second in a pit stop.

Thats not random, thats just the result of things being incredibly close

Instead of F1 Racing it's now called F1 tire management 2012.
And before someone says "they have always done it" not at this silly level.

Just take the Senna Mansell battle at monaco, if Mansell was using todays tires he would not be able to catchup like he did in 1992
so we would have lost out on a great battle between two great drivers.

But just think of how many great battles we have missed because of these tires :(

Well in that case then vimto and rb are a joke because they had a computer(engine management system) helping them for 2 years ;)

everyone else did aswell? now the rear end downforce has gone were seeing drivers like hamilton webber and schumacher stand out more.

alonso could probably drive a bag of nails aslong as you gave it an engine and some wheels so he doesnt count :D

Uh, what? Are you saying Hamilton, Webber and Schumacher are bad or good? Seems a fairly random mix of drivers?

Maybe, but Webber and Schumacher aren't running away from their team mates.

Schumacher has also had a good old go at the tyres.

I don't think any driver is really happy, but not because of the loss of EBD. They just know that the tinyest mistake can loose them loads. I think the EBD has closed the teams together more than it has affected the drivers, the gap between the haves and the have nots with EBDs last year was massive.

Vimto? The only reference I can find to "Vimto" and modern F1 is posts by you on OcUK about Vettel, so is this just your personal pet name for him or something? Last time I asked you responded with the lyrics from a Benny Hill song....
