F1 returns to BBC

ITV must be mighty wee'd off, they've just invested in all the streaming coverage of the practise sessions over the net.

Steve Rider can't be overly happy too - he left the BBC to do the F1 on ITV.

According to Pitpass sources, David Croft, currently Radio Five Live commentator and said to be a "shoo-in for the James Allen job", was being given a semi-audition for ITV by North One (who do the production for ITV) a year early by doing the GP2 commentary live on TV this year.

We understand that Mark Sharman, head of ITV Sport, is heading out to Sepang to explain to his crew why they've lost their jobs.

Word on the street is that Jonathan Ledgard is a possibility for commentator, of course, with Martin Brundle expected to be the only one retained from current commentary line-up.
Yay! There was the cynic in me thinking Bernie did the deal with the BBC to stop Brundle having access to a soapbox.

Greta news, when it moved to ITV it killed it for me, too many adverts ruined the experience. I might start watching it again. Not really watched it much since the days of Damon Hill.

"NEVER... BREAK THE CHAIN... RUN IN THE SHADOWS" <insanely cool git-tar foreplay>duuuuum.. Dum DUM dum dum dum...... </insanely cool git-tar foreplay>

:D

I think the current F1 coverage is pretty good bar the following issues.

1) Obviously the ad's interrupting the action. I hate coming back to the action to "drama here at <insert track>" and having to play catch up on the action via replays.

2) The title's really annoy me. "flip me off, flip me off, AYAYAYAYAAYA, flip me off, flip me off, ANANANANANANAAA" or at least thats how it sounds to me.

3) Advert related but does anyone else have the sound through a home cinema system at a decent volume? I like to watch the race this way but that stupid DUR DUR DUR as the adverts begin and end does my nut in.

All these are minor gripes though and I hope that the coverage doesn't suffer as a result of the swap. Infact keeping it exactly as it is minus the ads would be almost perfect.

Anything that get the annoying Sony sponsor's ''can I play with madness'' Heavy Metal dirge off my TV has to be a winner

The BBC needs to move the game on, and by moving on I mean dump everything bar Brundle who is excellent, and please, NO MORE FLIPPING WALKER!

LOL :D

It's "Lift me up, Lift me up, Higher nowama"

Pretty sure it's lifted from the song "Lift Me Up" by Moby.

Not sure whether I'm for or against the move to the Beeb... I'm so used to the ITV coverage it's going to be so bizarre with some of the people your used to watching week-in-week-out not there.

Im unsure on this... Yeh i would like to get rid of Allen & Co.

But look how hard ITV have done this year, broadcasting FP on a webstream, all the extra stuff they have done. Are us brits going to lose all this? I bloody well hope not.

Only thing im pleased about is no ads i suppose.

Who on earth wants to watch practice anyway? The races are dull enough without removing the competitive aspect...

Pretty sure BBC would show the practices on interactive. This is great news, finally no ad breaks and hopefully will be rid of James "I'm a complete ****" Allen.
