F1 returns to BBC

Can someone reassure me that Gary Lineker is not going to front this? Don't get me wrong I really like Lineker, but he's got the football, golf, Olympics and that's enough really.

Cant see it being in HD at all, its down to each countrys or circuits tv crews, dont know why bernie doesnt have a seperate crew doing all the gps.

He does, the FOM do the feed for pretty much all the races, cept Fuji last year where Fujitv did it. Iirc Rai Italia do the directing for the Italian GP too.

ITV explains decision to exit F1

By Pablo Elizalde Thursday, March 20th 2008, 11:02 GMT

ITV will not be broadcasting F1 next yearBritish network ITV says it decided to end its Formula One broadcasting deal at the end of this season for commercial reasons.

The BBC announced on Thursday it has regained the rights to Formula One in a five-year deal starting in 2009.

The agreement was seen as a coup for the public broadcaster, with Briton Lewis Hamilton leading the championship so far this year.

ITV, who recently announced it would broadcast F1 practice live on their website, has broadcast the sport in Britain since the start of the 1997 season.

The BBC said its deal included radio, television and online coverage.

ITV said in a statement on Thursday that it was its decision not to continue with their deal.

"ITV plc today confirmed that it has decided to exit Formula One at the end of this season," said ITV in a statement. "This was a straightforward commercial decision for ITV and we are pleased that Formula One will continue to be broadcast free-to-air.

"ITV will continue to broadcast live coverage of every race this season as Lewis Hamilton attempts to win his first world championship."

:):):):):)

And the timing systems were taken from the F1 chanel that used to be on Sky, so I expect they are attached to F1 and not specifically the channel they are shown on.

I will say though, credit to ITV, that have done a very good job with F1. If the BBC dont continue with the level of coverage then they will get slaughtered by fans, and pribubly Bernie too.

Good news, no more advert breaks, let’s hope that they don’t get rid of the grid walks and don't bring back Murray.

Well one or two races with Murray would be nice :p Silverstone perhaps.
No it wouldn't. It really wouldn't. I saw him commentate on the GP Masters Race on Sky last year. Given there was only about 12 or so cars, the number of mistakes was embarrasing. Even for him.
