The BBC has regained the British television rights to Formula One from its rival ITV after a lull of 12 years.

The corporation will start broadcasting Grand Prix next year as part of a five-year deal, said Bernie Ecclestone, the motorsports boss.

Coming at a time when the 23-year-old British driver Lewis Hamilton is leading the championship, the announcement will be seen as a coup for the public broadcaster.
Great news as there'll be no adverts, but what will happen to Brundle and Blundell....?!? Not that I'll be sad to see the back of Steve Rider, though.

You like listening to Mark Blundell? If stale cheese could talk, this is what it would sound like.

Brundle's a class act though. Rider's OK, but is constantly forced to talk about Lewis bloody Hamilton. He must be feeling annoyed right now. He moved to ITV primarily to host the F1. 1 season in and it's announced it's going back to his former home...

This is indeed good news, as there wil be no ads to ruin the continuity of the race.

Now I'd like to see the test cricket come back to the BBC as well, with no ads and free to air!

AUSTRALIAN GP '08 REPORT with D.I. Mark Blundell
Detective Inspector Blundell, Monday, March 17th, 2008 at 1:00 pm

‘Ello ‘ello ‘ello. Detective Inspector Mark Blundell done be investigating from the Australian Grand Prix what, to be honest, is in Australia. I was, in fairness, particularly interested in a series of incidents what done involve vehicles what has left the road. The first incident done involve a red Ferrari what done be driven by a Mr Phillipe Massa what did spin. I later done observed another red Ferrari driven by a Mr Kimi Raikkonen what done also spin also. Finally, to be honest, I done notice a red and white Toyota of Mr Timo Glock what done lose control, do done a little jump and then, to be fair, done spin a bit. This should done be a lesson to all motorists on the road that they should done leave their vehicle’s traction control on for safety reasons at all times. Unless it done been banned. What, in fairness, in F1 it done have. Over and out.

;)

although i like the fact f1 is back with bbc, i think you have to admit itv did a lot better job then bbc did originally. now grandstand is gone , i think they will have a dedicated show rather then being cramped between other sports.
