F1 Testing 2012 - Week 1, Jerez

Possible exhaust changes, with the restrictions on angles etc. Think that is it?

...I can remember the 2009 car being 1.5 seconds off the pace all through testing.

Indeed. And when they started Race1, their poor form continued, although I think Hamilton did somehow manage to drag a decent points finish in that race. I think that was the same race where he lied and some McLaren bod got fired.

In 2011, McLaren had a poor test. They ran with their octopus exhaust and just couldn't make it work. They were consistently slow. They then turned up to Race1, removed the octopus exhaust and were immediately over a second faster.

Just a shame it probably compromised the car for the rest of the season. The rear is packed so much tighter this time.

anyone know if this will be recorded anywhere? ive never watched the testing before and wouldnt mind a little look, but ive got lectures and labs throughout the day so i cant watch it live

Its not something you can really watch live anyway, the track is open for most of the daylight hours and with only half the cars running (1 from each team) then the track is usually either empty or just has one or two cars doing a long run.

Finding a site that has some good quality 'highlight' videos for the pretty car (just the one this year) is all you really need.

i'm sure there will be a few videos on youtube later, that with the text updates will be fine for me. although I would watch it if they did a live broadcast, i'm sure they would have enough to talk about with the new regs and the changes over the winter etc
