Why would Mercedes play the dead fox game? Are they so naive to think that Ferrari would stop their development sitting on laurels? Wow!

It's about not showing what you've got until you have to. Look at how well Alfa Romero/Sauber are doing with their front wing. Other teams like Red Bull and Mercedes are thinking of copying it, so seeing it now instead of in Australia has given them a head start in coming up with their own versions. If one team has something radical that's putting them ahead of everyone else, they want to keep it under cover for as long as possible.

I guess the best example was Brawn's double diffuser. By the end of the year, every car had it, but in the first half of the season, no one could keep up with Button in the Brawn, and the championship was won in a car cobbled together from Honda and Mercedes.
