F1 Winter Testing / Driver Line-Ups for 2007

Was quite shocked to see Raikonnen over half a second slower than Massa, hopefully that was because they were trying different setups etc.

It hopefully will be a right mixed bag this season, only a month to go now.

Took out some sand maybe?

If they did, it didn't improve the reliability much. Webber stopped out on track twice, bringing out the red flag. Drivetrain issues apparently. DC had a few issues as well.

When will we get decent coverage on the F1? What about high definition or even 16:9?
I emailed ITV about this about 6 months ago. They said the cameras at most the tracks are old :(

If the F1 was in HD I would shell out for sky HD at the drop of a hat!

I'm not a football or cricket fan although I am a superleague fan (Hull Kingston Rovers)

It's so lame in this day and age and for the fact that the itv coverage goes around the world they should be ashamed!

Please remember guys that in most cases, ITV pickup their feed from a host broadcaster. I think at most tracks these days, it's Bernie's company that controls the cameras, which in most cases (as already stated) are not even capable of HD broadcasts.

F1 in HD is a way off yet (IMO).

ITV don't broadcast HD on Sky though.

I just wish it would go back to good old BBC 1, where u didnt have to worry about things happening in the ad break.

How many times this season did the coverage go to an ad break, and something happen, Schumacher engine failure anyone?

Also, if it did go back to the Beeb, then bring back the good old F1 music by Fleetwood Mac, the best F1 theme ever.

On another note, hopefully the RBR time isnt just a flash in the pan, as then there would be one more team up there challenging for the win, and with Michael not around, i think the sport needs the close competition to keep people interested.

I know they don't broadcast currently on the Sky HD platform but if they had some HD content they may decide it's worth the jump!

Maybe sky sports will bid for the contract next time it's renewed!

Oh god no! Have you seen the A1GP coverage?? Andy Prilaux is the pundit, he makes Nigel Mansell look charismatic and exciting! I've given up watching it because he makes me suicidal...

Now more Georgie Thomson, that's a different story ;)

From what I can remember, the BBC's coverage was never exactly mind blowing and I personally think ITV do a far better job. When you're in the mood for a good Grand Prix the pre-race build up is spot on. Okay, the adverts are a complete disaster I admit, and drive me nuts too, but what can be done? IMHO all they really need to do is find someone decent to replace James Allen. He's a complete nightmare.

The one thing ITV have never really got right though is the intro music. I have to agree that the old BBC intro was unbeatable. Yet even if the Beeb did get F1 back, I doubt they would use it, as it's a bit too 'hairy chested' for today's world.

Anyway, back to the hot air and pre-season mud slinging... :D

And while their looking for a James Allen replacement replacing the 2 other idiots (Brundle and Blundell) wouldn't go a miss. I watched it on EuroSport many moons ago even with their adverts as the commentery was just so much better.

If ITV could find 2 people like Toby Moody and Julian Ryder who do MotoGP with such passion then maybe I'd not watch most races at 6x speed on sky+...then again the fact nothing happens in F1 anymore doesn't help either.

Then again they could bring in Jonathan Pearce and Chris 'Lionel Richie' Camara, that would spice things up a bit.

Will have to see how things pan out this year, should be interesting to see whether Spyker and Williams actually do protest the Torro Rosso car at Melbourne, like they said they were going to.

People don't realise how little ITV do. They don't do the in-race graphics or timing, they dont do the cameras at any other track than Silverstone, they don't pick the camera angles or any camera direction other than Silverstone. FOM do most of that at most of the other tracks. So whether you hate or like ITV's coverage the only thing they can really change is pre and post race stuff and the race commentary.

I'm not a huge fan of James Allen but he has got better. I don't mind Martin Brundell or Mark Blundell but Steve Ryder is worse than Jim Rosenthal. They are all a bit biased towards Jenson Button but hey were British we should show some home support.

One thing that other broadcasters do is that during the ad breaks they have a corner section of the screen showing the race. I wish ITV would do that. Then it would be much better.... and god forbid Sky ever getting the F1 broadcasting rights!!!!

One thing that really annoys me thou is the way Brundel constantly goes on about Coulthard which oddly enough he manages. And with him and Blundell managing a number of other drivers I really think that is a pretty major conflict of interest. They are not likely to ever say anything overly bad about their meal tickets are they.

The only thing that Mark and Martin do for Coulthard is get him a drive in an F1 car. Do you really think that team boses like Flav, Jean Todt, Ron Dennis and Frank Williams listen to word either of them say??! I doubt it. Team boses go on performances not what two failed f1 drivers now turned commentators say.
