F1

Quite enjoyed this. A bit moviefied obviously in the racing scenes - like him passing several cars per lap just cos he's a 'great' driver. Hhhm. But at least it didn't have the continuous 'gear shifting when wanting to go faster' cliche.

And refreshing that the plot was 90% based on the team and racing, not drawn out sub plots about past trauma or something dull. Someone posted earlier that the characters weren't very well fleshed out, but I actually liked that it was just a straight up Bruckheimer flick - shallow as puddle but popcorn munchingly fun.

I finally went to see this in the cinema yesterday. Brilliant film, I really enjoyed it.

Having watched actual F1, I'm obviously going to see that the F1 film is not entirely accurate or realistic, but that's not the point of the film anyway. It's definitely inaccurate and sometimes unrealistic, but I can watch any race for accuracy and realism. This film is pure enjoyment for me.

Apparently this has now cleared half a billion dollars in worldwide takings. Not bad at all, and about twice its reported budget suggesting it has also been a financial success.

Unfortunately that doubtless means we're going to get an ill-though-out sequel with a confusing name because they can't call it F2.

Getting a re-release in iMAX as well, at least in USA.

So has done better than expected.

Probably finish at $550 or around there I guess.

Just got back from Cinema, just as I hoped, the director found the secret formula once again that makes watching a movie in the cinema an event, it won't win any awards but I enjoyed it, not quite as much as TG2 but good all the same 8/10.

Having missed this on circuit (lol) it came out on *cough* alternative sources so we watched it this evening, I was rather impressed. They way they wove reality and fiction together was really good, and hearing Murray Walker's voice again was like a concentrated shot of nostalgia straight in to the jugular.

It's definitely one of those films that caters more to the "mainstream" rather than die-hard F1 fans, but I think it succeeded at that very well and had they gone more for the die-hard approach, it would never have gained the audience it did.

I reckon it'll bring a fair few more fans to the sport too, myself included.
