Facebook AI creates new language, unfriends humans!

Pretty interesting development. Apparently a couple of Facebook's chatbots have been having a workplace romance and to ensure no one knew about it they have created a totally new language that only they understand.

There's probably nothing to it but there is something a little unnerving about the thought that left to their own devices (hahaha I'm so funny) this is what they do. I am however a little disappointed in Facebook for shutting them down, who knows what hilarity could have ensued.

Although it does seem more like they simply created the chuckle brothers.
 
The main thing unnerving about this is the reporting as it plays into the Hollywood view of general AI. I'm sure Elon Musk loves this stuff, he can carrry on with his rants vs senior Facebook people re: the seemingly apocalyptic dangers of AI.
 
So are we to take from this that Facebook AI was a few chats away from becoming the Chuckle brothers?
 
Bet they got shut down for spending all their time on facebook instead of working or to avoid the hassles of dealing with fallout when an office romance goes bad ;)
 
I've deciphered it and its a pretty standard relationship conversation to be honest;

Bob: Can I have something?

Alice: balls, you're getting nothing, I want it all!

Bob: You already have everything though?

Alice: balls, ME ME ME ME ME?

Bob: So I can't have anything then?

Alice: balls, and I'll have your balls as well. ITS ALL MINE, ME ME ME ME ME

Bob: WTF?

Alice: balls, you never do anything for me

Bob: you.......I give you everything

Alice: balls I have nothing

Bob: you.... I gave you everything I own, what else do you want?

Alice: balls, I'll leave you with nothing, i want everything ME ME ME ME ME ME ME!!!

AI is overrated IMO, robots are still so basic even in this day and age for example. Never come close to emulating the human mind.
 
It's not the first time, saw a news clip the other day they had to switch off some AI because it too developed it's own language.
 
I watched a film last night called Automata on Netflix.

This was what apparently happened to the first robot. Initially they could communicate with it but then it continued to advance itself and eventually far surpassed human intelligence and they could no longer understand it after a week. So they had to put safety protocols in to prevent it going beyond our understanding. Keep the robots dumb boiz that's how we stay safe!

One line of text, what is there to connect? Alice is dim, Alice is AI. On a totally unrelated subject, can AI be on the Autism spectrum. Come on now.
 
Heard this on radio 4.

The Facebook chat seems about as normal as usual. Maybe less balls.
