Facebook apps! Arrghgh!

I have actually been freaked out by Facebook recently. I had my uncles misses add me on there (duno how she found me) and someone I know from about 9 years ago has added me. Just find it a bit freaky.

My hot next door neighbour added me. I was back at Uni and wondered who on earth this was. Checked out her pic and its my neighbour from back home. She got added btw.

Facebook is REALLY annoying, getting invites to stupid apps everyday. I just ignore them all.

When I first signed onto Facebook I would get invites to do things. So I would click OK or whatever and get asked to install an app. Er no thanks.

See now, I set my privacy settings properly, and I don't get any of this random rubbish.

Would you mind giving us an example of some good settings then? For us Facebook noobs (me )

It can't block the application invitations from appearing down the right hand side yet, but it does stop the things like "Person x recieved a new FunWall post", "So and so bit someone else, bite someone now" and "Randomguy is using the Likeness application, find your likeness now!" etc. appearing in the main news feed. It still shows when they add an application, but not a new 4 line news item every time they actually use it. It also blocks the sponsored adverts in the main news feed too.

I've unfortunately ignored all kinds of those invite notifications so I can't actually get hold of the HTML for them to work out if they're blockable. I can't find where to unignore them either.

Updated the script so it can hide app invites from the right hand menu too.

Opening Facebook up to non academic addresses was the beginning of it's end. It's rapidly becoming a victim of it's success.

How does whether or not person X can register make any difference whatsoever to your existence on the site?

The concept of Facebook is good, don't mind anyone being able to be a member. But it's good because of the concept, simple and constricted. Applications bring too much else into it.

Lol cats is the only app ive got and will ever add.

It infuriates me sooo much when i have to trawl through all this tosh. Might start telling my friends to stop being annoying and get rid of them asap.

177 apps, (if i can count) that's bloody ridiculous! I have video, what i'm listening to and IQ test. I think it should be limited to 5 apps a person.

I've got 5 lines of app's on mine but quite a few of them are minimised on the page.

From what i can see it is mostly women/girls that add these damn thing...unless it's something like 'petrolheads' or other such tripe.

Well I personally don't add that many, only ones that interest me and would fit nicely into what I already have, but I have found at least half (if not more) of the invites are from men.
