Facebook dislike button

Less self delusion is definitely a good thing.

Like everything in life there is a down to the UP, a positive to the negative. About time people had their blinkered view on everything exposed. Maybe this will make people THINK before they post something.

So is this actually officially happening this time? There have been fake posts/rumours about it for years.

Either way if it seriously effects your life you may need to take a step back from Facebook.

It isn't going to be a straight dislike button. You won't just click dislike on a status because you think your mate is talking rubbish.

It's main intention is to dislike bad news rather than like it.

Cant wait to dislike all the pictures of friends dinners that they post or their 9000 holiday photos instead of enjoying their holiday without a selfie stick. So sad, people need to get a life

Insurance companies love it when you post you're away on holiday giving them another reason not to pay out when your house gets stripped clean after you've advised the fact it's empty for 2 weeks....

I was shocked reading this is part of insurance policies nowadays on some articles.

Simple way round this. Allow poster to choose either to have like or dislike function... not both...

So if you post about a tragedy you can chose to have a dislike button...

^ that would be pointless. Who would choose the dislike button on anything they wanted people to only like? (Even if most people think its garbage and dislike it...but cant)

I think this is a fantastic idea :)

I must admit I love all the Holiday photos people post and adventure stuff as that's what I love but the things I hate is all the people that take Selfies of how they have lost weigh , Ok once a month is great but there are people on my news feed who post photos everyday haha , Hello attention seeking / I love myself springs to mind, So I can't wait to blast this person with a Big Dislike :)

A lot of the stuff is pretty funny but no one likes depressing news or needs to know how they got s****d over by an EX ! HaHa yep this stuff happens and seems to be accepted on FB these days its crazy , to much personal info is shared.

The only things that need to be shared are positive things only but not everyday.

I'd welcome it. If friends dislike your opinions then it's a quick way to see that perhaps they should not be friends at all. Also, it will mitigate the perceived popularity of those stupid, stupid memey viral pictures that seem to originate on FB, usually say something totally unresearched about religion, immigrants, or politics and get passed about liike wildfire.

This.

Also allows for people who post bad news for you to show sympathy by disliking the news...

Why not just hide their posts? Why the need to put other people down by passive aggressively "blasting them with a big dislike"?

I just hide their annoying posts from my feed, if they begin to grate on me.

Can't say I'd ever "dislike" a post or status, due to the potential for conflict. It's easier to ignore it and move on but there we go. I get the concept that liking a bad status seems stupid, but then you have to question why you'd like a status that said "mum just died... I'm a hollow shell of a man".... :p

Holiday photos and baby photos (to a degree) don't bother me. It's the "going to the gym" and the follow up message an hour later stating "wow 40kg PB! #crossfit #burn" that annoys me... and I go to the gym / for a run 4-5 times a week.

Facebook for me is purely used for messenger as its easier. In terms of photos/posting stuff, I seldom bother.

If you join any Facebook groups and I've joined a few( & been joined into groups without them asking me) for collecting things or just about anything then you get hundreds of 'friends' requests, these people often have no similar interest but just collect 'friends' so they can show just how popular it seems they are. I want a button to prevent friends requests, I stupidly have accepted 571 of which 30 are probably genuine & there are hundreds more requests & I want it blocked.
