Facial skin?

Go to the doctors and get some antibiotics, usually work, but in my case where i had severe acne I had to the dermatologist and was put on roaccutane, she told me eating lots of fruit, eating healthy ect doesn't help, but I still think it does.. Also you could try lime juice, my grandad used to swear by it.

ditto to that, I'm seeing the dermatologist on Thursday so will probably end up on roaccutane

It's seriously good stuff, worked a treat, I had to have my course extended for 2 months but it's amazing, only downside is the side effects (really, really dry cracked lips, horrible headaches, high cholesterol and really dry flakey skin) They also make your spots the worse you will ever see them for the first few weeks/months. If you do go on it, I recommend you use blistex for your lips and aqueous moisturiser for your face.

Whoah whoah with all the product suggestions!

The biggest thing here is that you're washing your face *several* times a day!! Your facial skin *needs* those oils to stay supple. You're probably irritating the hell out of your face, no wonder it's showing redness.

Try just washing your face just once a day (or twice if you really feel you have to, once when you get up, then once again before bed). It'll probably be awful for the first little while because your face will be used to over-producing in order to make up for your over-enthusiastic washing.

After some time it should balance out.

its very hard to pinpoint one explanation for spots. Its different for each person. A lot of the time its simply down to hormones. Personlly i find sudocrem helps a bit, and ive read a lot that tea tree oil helps so im going to give that a go soon.

Your skin could end up over compensating from you washing it so much by making it even more oily ;p

Drink water, sleep well and wash twice a day max.

A steaming bath is gd because it sweats out your pores. Also the gym is actually bad for spots, it increase yer testosterone levels which increases spots ; /

Dont get me wrong my skin is pritty good but i just cant seem to get it 100% clear. I sleep more than enough, and i already drink plenty of water and eat plenty of fruit. :(

easist thing, is to try a good multi vit and mineral for a few weeks, if the problem improves then its a vitamin or mineral defficency like my rough elbows.

If I take a multi vit/min pill after about 2 weeks my elbows are completely smooth.

For some reason, whenever I take orange juice, bananas or multivitamin tablets I get a lot spottier

LOL! Someone who comes along and tells me the exact opposite! :p

Oi, listen!

How many times a day do you wash your face? If it's more than 2, it's too many times. Try that first, before you start popping supplements.

No, i wash is twice i day. Normally in the moring in the shower and then onece again at night at the gym in the shower after my workout.

you seem to take good care of yourself so it cant be dirt etc etc.

I find if i eat chocoalte or crisps on a large scale my facial skin suffers. A good thing is sunshine tho, makes them less noticable. Also grow a beard to cover some of them up like moi :) But yeh, try using a different face wash? I use some clean and clear thing, as and when i need it. Mite just be one of those things that with time just disappears, dont let it stunt your confidense. Like when you go into school with the volcano of all spots on your forehead, n 20 minutes later youve forgotten about it because something else more inetersing has happened, lol

washing your face a lot could be causing it, as its constantly opening the poores and irritating them etc etc and all that b/s lol Try just washing it once in the morning, by all means shower after the gym but just dont wash your face intensley.

Yeah I've heard it works miracles, 2 of mates were on it and it sorted them both right out although I'm not looking forward to the side effects if that is what they put me on...

Hi all, ok, with the hopes that i will get some serious answers rather than the usual mustard replies... :p

My face is not really spotty as such but its not perfectly clear. I have small red spots that make it look like ive just gone through the really spotty stage and im recovering. But im not!! :( Ive never really been spotty.

I already drink loads of water and wash my face throughly a few times a day to stop it getting oily. I also go gym regular and eat healthy. Is there anything that onyone can recommend to make my facial skin from good to perfect? besides water, anything that might help food or drink wise?
Probably try some Benzoyl Peroxide 10% from Boots or so, worked wonders for my mates and me a bit when I needed it. ;)

2.5% is actually better according to the awesome research undertaken at this fantastic website.

This cleaning regime should help you.

Dermalogica do a good range of products. My skin is usually fine but my sister used to have problem skin. Not really spotty or anything, would just tend to get blemishes and occasionally get a few spots or red marks. She found when her skin was like that most products didn't seem to help. Last Christmas I got her the Dermalogica skin kit for Acne prone skin which she said was great. They do a full range (Dry, Dry/Normal, Normal, Oily/Normal, Oily, Acne Prone, Sensitized) so you should be able to find something that suits you. I ordered it from lookfantastic but I am sure you can get it lots of places online.
