FAIL !!!

Only story i remember reading about was somebody phoning tech support regarding their new wireless printer and the fact that it wouldn't turn on.

"Is it plugged in?"

"Erm, its wireless?"

lol, reminds me of the time I worked for Freeserve and some guy was on the phone complaining that the USB cable on the modem wasn't long enough, I was puzzled as you can put the modem anywhere really... So I said to him "you can just put the modem on top of your PC" to which he replied "But then I'd have to sit on the floor to use it"... It turns out he was trying to use the new modem as a mouse.

That just resulted in my tea being sprayed over my monitor while I choked.
 
Yesterday my colleague wanted to play some radio station online. Absolute Radio I think it was. So she typed Google into the Yahoo search bar in IE and then loaded Google up to search for Absolute Radio. :D

Luckily for her she's fit. :cool:
 
I don't really have any original PC related ones... recently my granddad got Sky+, and myself, my brother and his girlfriend were down to see him so he took the opportunity to show off Sky+ to us.

He then proceeded to boast about all the categories it has... "Entertainment... Sports... Movies... Kids... Adult..." :eek: There were a few seconds while we all held our breath praying he would keep flicking, thankfully he did!
 
My Mum believes uninstalling iTunes will delete all her music. Among many many other things. Yet she insists on buying every new piece of technology she can (yes she has an iPad).

I once sent her a .jpg of a website I was designing and she complained she couldn't click on the links.

We had one printer where I ended up gluing quite a few into place after the little sods broke them.

Lets see,

We had one person we were coaching to use a PC, she had terrible problems with the mouse. After about three sessions she mentioned she was left handed.

One woman told me the wireless wasn't working, I asked if she was having trouble with her laptop. She said no, but the computer in her room had a message on the screen saying no signal when she pressed the power button.

I've had two occasions where people have complained that their mouse pointer keeps on going down the the bottom left hand corner. In both cases a piece of furniture had been pushed against their interactive whiteboards.

Also had a chap who couldn't log on. The reason, some of the junk on his desk was sat on top of the enter key (the one on the number pad).

I also get asked for a card reader for a digital camera, this might not sound odd. But then user then produced a Sony Mavica camera with a built in floppy drive.
 
My dad has always bought a decent mainstream PC. Always spends about a grand though all he does is browse the net, get viruses and look at his photos. His last one died (or so he said) as it got infected. So he spent another grand on a Dell. I took the old one, reinstalled Xp, and it works fine again. is now my backup in case mine blows up.

His new del btw, cost more than my recent build (in sig) and his gets 4.2 on the Windows score lol. Mine gets 7.9. His has a 6800 GPu inside it!

I said we could buy the parts and build one but he wont have it.

I had something similar at my last school. The teacher was trying to tap the whiteboard and move things around but nothing was happening on the whiteboard. I came and had a look and agreed nothing was working. I then looked at the pen tray on the whiteboard and noticed that there were only three there. So where was the other one? Found it on a table nearby and put it back into the tray. The whiteboard detected the presence of all four pens and lo and behold tapping the whiteboard now worked. :)
 
I've been trying to explain the difference between web-design and using a free website designer/host thing all week. After being told that this web-design thing I sometimes do is actually very easy. :rolleyes:
 
My brother was fed up with his ISP so he decided to move to another service. I told him he would need to ask his ISP for his MAC address so he can migrate over.

While asking about obtaining his MAC address from his ISP the person on the other end told him he'd have to contact Apple about this matter. Unbelievable!

If I worked for the ISP, I'd be just as puzzled about what you're asking for exactly. I'd ask you to consult your hardware for the MAC address which identifies your device.

Is MAC an acceptable term for the migration code?
 
An ex-work colleague bought a pc a few years back, and asked for my help as her internet wasn't working.

Drivers/configs/cables all fine, no web pages displayed.
Me: So what ISP are you using?
Friend: What what?
Me: What company are providing your access to the internet?
Friend: Eh? I thought the computer came with the internet on it?

<insert Facepalm smiley>
 
I'd imagine he would have mentioned that he wants to switch to another ISP, which would put it into context and you'd hope an ISP call center would at least know what part a MAC code plays in that process...
