Pretty sure you can drive around for 7 days whilst you get car fixed for retest.
You can only drive it if you're driving to a location for another MOT test or repairs. You can't drive it freely.

I cannot drive the car anymore as i realized the mot run out on the 9th.
I will see if i can get someone to come out to do a diagnostic check.
If its just lambda, i would need to get a new downpipe aswell, as i know the lambda looks all rusty and welded on to the exhaust.

Well if you were stopped, you could say you were on the way to the garage, maybe you could blag it. Only the absolute worst of plods would escort you to there.
It could be an O2 sensor
It could be the Cat
It could be injectors (dirty)
It could be a failing fuel pump
It could be the MAF
It could be burning oil and the engine is going west
It could be .....
Get it checked out properly or you will spend £££££
Also when was it last serviced
^ When I did that, the MOT place gave me the MOT paper and said I can drive around for a week and show the paper if stopped. I got it fixed the next day, but drove around a few shop and errands in between. Not sure they would be so lenient if they stopped whilst you were goining into a supermarket carpark, i guess it'll depend on the mood of the rozzer is in on the day![]()
https://www.gov.uk/getting-an-mot/after-the-testDriving a vehicle that’s failed
You must not drive the vehicle on the road if it fails the test, even if the MOT hasn’t run out, except to:
have the failed defects fixed
a pre-arranged MOT test appointment
You can be fined up to £2,500, be banned from driving and get 3 penalty points for driving a vehicle in a dangerous condition.
You can't do that anymore, rules changed. If you fail an MOT, even if your previous one hasn't expired yet you're now breaking the law by driving to anywhere other than another MOT or a place of repairs.
