Failed MOT

I cannot drive the car anymore as i realized the mot run out on the 9th.

I will see if i can get someone to come out to do a diagnostic check.

If its just lambda, i would need to get a new downpipe aswell, as i know the lambda looks all rusty and welded on to the exhaust.

?????

No... Just get under there and undo the sensor. CHuck some WD40 on it first and if that fails apply lots of heat.

And if you CBA, take it to a garage and simply say: I would like a new Pre-cat Lambda Sensor please. K Thx Bye!

Well if you were stopped, you could say you were on the way to the garage, maybe you could blag it. Only the absolute worst of plods would escort you to there.

It could be an O2 sensor
It could be the Cat
It could be injectors (dirty)
It could be a failing fuel pump
It could be the MAF
It could be burning oil and the engine is going west
It could be .....

Get it checked out properly or you will spend £££££

Also when was it last serviced

I'd imagine they actually verify your MOT booking or else everyone would just use that line :p

^ When I did that, the MOT place gave me the MOT paper and said I can drive around for a week and show the paper if stopped. I got it fixed the next day, but drove around a few shop and errands in between. Not sure they would be so lenient if they stopped whilst you were goining into a supermarket carpark, i guess it'll depend on the mood of the rozzer is in on the day :p

Thats a long list, i got someone coming round tomorrow to do the checks on it.

I had the car for two years and i changed the oil, oil filter, plugs around 4 months ago.

You can't do that anymore, rules changed. If you fail an MOT, even if your previous one hasn't expired yet you're now breaking the law by driving to anywhere other than another MOT or a place of repairs.

Driving a vehicle that’s failed

You must not drive the vehicle on the road if it fails the test, even if the MOT hasn’t run out, except to:

have the failed defects fixed
a pre-arranged MOT test appointment
You can be fined up to £2,500, be banned from driving and get 3 penalty points for driving a vehicle in a dangerous condition.

It was actually always the case "Legally".(Hence "Pre-MOT" tests)

It is only now that the Government has realised that it can now use computer tech to make even more money by kicking people when they are already down that this has become an issue however.

Bar ****ing stewards!
