Failed my driving test this week... How many attempts did it take you?

Second time for me. Failed initially on not making progress amongst other stuff, that long ago I can't really remember! :eek:

First for HGV then second time also for my Class 1 (C+E), first time I made a real pig's arse of it on the manoeuvring area.

Car - 2nd attempt with 2 minors
B+E licence - 1st attempt with 2 minors
Bike - 1st attempt with 2 minors

oh and 100% in all theory tests

(except hazard perception, that things just back magic personified)

I had extended driving lessons, and a lot of them because I am disabled, it took a while longer for me to get used to it, was going great and my instructor decided to put me forward for the test. The day came and he phoned me to say he was ill and really sorry but he couldn't go so he sent another instructor. I was totally off put by the new instructor and I had an hour lesson before hand, I couldn't do the most basic parking/reversing with her, I completely lost it. When the test came it was again a women. Suffice to say I was nervous again and failed on 2 points, not entering the yellow box fully and something else. Totally gutted by the whole day, from start to finish.

After a few weeks and a few more lessons my instructor put me in again, and I got a guy tester. The dude was so laid back and calming, talking to me about how I am etc put me at ease. Started test, I did emergency stop, parallel parking. Lastly I reversed round a corner and he said ok just have a minute and talked to me about news/weather/whatever, and then said you can drive back to the test centre now, it was only like 15 minutes if that, he told me as I pulled in I can relax I've passed. Completely different day to the 1st test.

My friend hit the curb on his park and said that he just slammed on the brakes too sharply and passed

Passed my theory on 5th attempt, this was when it was the old test, not the one which now has more questions etc.

Passed driving test first time, 4 minors.

3 times, the 2nd time wasn't my fault though, I stopped at a roundabout because it wasn't my right of way, then the guy didn't go, so I started to move off, at the same time he moved off too, the examiner said I failed to read the road correctly, *******! how can I be held responsble for other peoples actions? but then, I did take my test in Chesterfield, recognised as one of the hardest places to pass in the UK. Should have taken it in Buxton,

"Drive to the end of the road and go around the roundabout, congratulations, you've passed"

Passed first time with only 14 minors. One was of which was reversing onto a pavement. I thought it was instant fail but the instructor was ok with it.

Passed theory second time. First one had a hazard perception test which i didn't know how to do, but figured it out for second attempt.

3 times. failed the first time and had a lot of back problems that prevented me from getting back behind the wheel. 2nd test (and a 2nd passed theory) a few years later i failed for doing 30 in a 20

Passed mine second time round.

First attempt, the **** of a driving examiner made me do an emergency stop just as i was pulling the sun visor down. He didn't fail me for that though. I failed when i was coming off a small roundabout in town. The pedestrian crossing was just changing to amber and i failed to see this because i was looking in the rear view mirror. He had to apply the brake and it was an immediate fail. Fancy putting a pedestrian crossing 20ft from the roundabout ey

Was absolutely gutted at the time, but was over the moon when i passed second time. It was one of the best feelings of my life having passed my test so i could go home and drive about all night in my Austin metro

Passed on my 2nd attempt with 5 minors I think...

I failed my 1st test for speeding - got up to 40 mph in a 30! Other than that I had 3 minors on that test, needless to say I was pretty damn annoyed!

I assume this is the place where all the smug tossers come in to boast about how they passed first time, waving their mighty willies in the face of those not blessed with nerves of steel or the driving ability of Jenson Button?
