i bought fallout 3 goty a while ago and today i decided to start playing it, for some reason im getting stutter when i look around, it doesnt seem to happen when im walking forwards tho  any idea what could be causing this? im using the latest drivers and i have tried with and without vsync

it seems a bit worse indoors for some reason

here are my specs

Windows 7 64bit Home Premium
Intel Core I5-2500k
Asus GeForce GTX 580 DirectCU II
G.Skill RipJawX 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz
Gigabyte P67A-UD4
Corsair HX 850W Psu
Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA

Have you tried fiddling with the games video settings, see if dropping anything sorts the problem?

One thing that comes to mind from my fallout3 days, is that it can hate on some quad cpu's, its designed for dual core but some quads somehow confused it to the point of stutter/crash? Either way the fix for that was manually editing the config file to force it to use 4 processes rather than the standard 2.

Hope this was some help!

This seems to be the fix for quadcore problems, shows you what to edit in your fallout 3 ini, http://www.sevenforums.com/gaming/20199-fallout-3-windows-7-w-quad-core.html

If you still get stuttering you can try these fixes as well, FOSE is a script extender http://fose.silverlock.org/, and Fallout Stutter remover is a script for it http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8886

Make sure you are patched to 1.7, read the readme files to install it and run the game using the FOSE Loader that is inside the game folder as admin. Hope this helps :)

thanks a lot for the help guys :) i just tried what was suggested and it seems to have fixed the problem, i had to limit the cores and use the stutter remover but now it seems fine
