Fallout 3 questions

Elder Lyons gave the go ahead for power armour training. he told me to speak to gunny who is in the labs of the citadel. do you mean that? i found the armour on a raider i beheaded around the republic of dave. i was just wandering around, and he shot at me. so i shot back, with ol painless.

edit: maybe it was an enclave...? but i had killed a load of raiders. im not sure now! i do have it though. im on xbox360.

Yeah that's a way that you can get it. I wondered a bit because you said you weren't a very high level, how have you gotten that far into the main quest already?

If you ever play the game through again there's actually a way you can get the power armor and the perk to use it at the very beginning of the game right after you leave the vault. If you head toward the Citadel there's a bunch of rocks outside you can climb, you'll fall through them and be underneath the map, you can then walk underneath the map up into the Citadel and talk to the Paladin who trains you. There's loads of Power Armor around as well but in all fairness it does ruin the first 8 or 9 hours of the game being much stronger than almost all your enemies. :o

No Hovis necessary btw, I was just curious. :p

Does anybody else find this games freezes an awful lot/pauses then starts again and also how difficult it can be to walk over rubble/rocks?

i do find myself constantly struggling with most larger enemies. like those brain robots on wheels and mirelurk hunters. i've also recently met a deathclaw, which kills me in a couple of swipes lol. hell, even raiders are pretty tough for the level i am on. i dont tend to explore places when i find them though. like the springvale school, didnt bother with it because i thought i'd die in there. maybe im playing this wrong! :p

might try that hack on my next play through if its accessible on xbox360 version of the game.

I went into the school last night and got creamed by some of the people in there.

I try to take them all on with my trusty baseball bat to try and conserve ammo.

haha, i love using the sledgehammer or baseball bat on radroaches in V.A.T.S. messy!

edit: if your low on ammo just search high and low for ammunition boxes. and use vats wherever possible.

Yeah. When I had it on the Xbox 360 it used to lock up maybe once or twice for every 3 or 4 hours of play which was very annoying. I've got it on PC now though and it hasn't frozen at all. I think the rocks being hard to climb over is something to do with the game engine, maybe it was the same for Oblivion but I never played that so wouldn't know.

That glitch should work on the 360 version of the game but be warned, it does spoil the game a bit! Deathclaws are one of the hardest enemies in the game, if you ever go to the very north of the map there's a town full of them, it's just to the north west of The Republic of Dave. Mirelurk Hunters are really annoying, I usually just let Fawkes kill them with his gattling laser as I don't want to waste my Lincoln's Repeater or Blackhawk on them. :p

If your character is good at melee combat then you can pick up a deathclaw hand after you kill them, if you get all the correct bits and a schematic you can build the Deathclaw Gauntlet which is a pretty good weapon when you're trying to conserve ammo. Link here if you want to read up on it.

yeh i ventured up the north of the map last night, i spotted a deathclaw and ran! it spotted me, and i couldn't escape it. i died. :p

im going to get a deathclaw gauntlet later i reckon if i get the TV tonight :p

reading up on it, i can get three schematics which will take the condition of the claw up to 125%. awesome

Heh :D I'm a level 18 on my current save and even I hate Deathclaws. They're too damn fast which is why I try and cripple the legs, not much good to you if you're carrying a baseball bat and a 10mm pistol though. :p

The best thing about the Deathclaw gauntlet is that it ignores armor so it kills human enemies very quickly. I think you can find one pre-made somewhere but it might be on one of the expansion packs, not sure. There's quite a few things you can make, I think my favourite has to be the dart gun, absolutely epic as one shot drains the enemies health until they die, the only downside is finding the Radscorpions and killing them... *Shudders* :p

it may spoil it, but i might take tonight to read through the wiki about the weapons and items. i feel im missing a lot in the game by using just the default weapons, which to be quite frank, are terrible until you get a plasma rifle!!

i acquired ol painless last night. that dave guy was very rude, so i killed everyone in the village to get his key. :p

radscorpions are damn annoying. i've only met the smaller ones (if there are bigger ones that is!) and they're just a pain. those yuo gwai things make me panic, so i got that perk that stops them from attacking me :D

I feel that too. I keep seeing work benches around and want to make my own fun weapons to use. I have lots of useless crap in my house for such things. :D

Where do you get ol painless from? Ineed some decent weapons.

Armour wise, I found some in one of the underground tunnels that I think was medic armour or something? It was useful as it not only kept one of your gauges topped up but it also warned you of enemies in the surrounding area :)

Sometimes getting around DC is a nightmare as you have to use the Metro system and often enough you loose your bearings.

One anyone part of the game was trying to get to Rivet City first time. Gods know but i was trying to get through Capitol Building before realising it was a dead end and following the River downwards was quicker.. Aghhhh

Plamsa rifles make easy work of Deathclaws.. Wait to you meet the Albino Scorpions - Ammo drains :)

you get it from Daves safe, in the republic of Dave. which is located in the far right hand corner of the map. bit of a mission getting there, but i think it was worth it for the best hunting rifle you can get :p i love that gun.

edit: i dont think there are any quests in the village. so when dave tells you to leave or he'll execute you, just V.A.T.S him with a powerfull gun and kill him.

Just picked this game up today for £2 in a well known high street cash trading place along with a few other games for cheap. It is just standard edition but I plan on buying the add-ons from PSN

I was the same when I first got it, played to Megaton, then just gave up as didn't the time to play it, but now going back in it's great.

I should try again as a few of my mates talk about it a lot! I seem to be going through a cba to play games phase atm :( ive done the same with JC2 :(
