Falmouth

Im far too old to skate..Prolly buy a bike though...Ive got a lovely bike over here but i reckon its gonna be too expensive to send it back. T.T

What about the hippy situation?

me again ^^

can someone recommend a phone network with good coverage down there? i heard that orange aint so good.

Our company has 2 offices - 1 in Falmouth the other on the edge of Truro. It's a great location to be except for those of us in IT trying to get better connectivity... we've just had a 2Mb leased line put in to the Truro site which runs over a microwave link (as do our phones - cause there's no more copper to be had on the exchange) and is gonna cost in the region of £7k p.a. !!!

On the plus side it really anoys our head office when they ring up at lunchtime asking for someone to be told they've 'gone to Swanpool beach for a lunchtime swim' lol :D:D

I'm on O2 and it seemed to be fine for me in the short time I was down there, I don't recall any instances where I didn't have network availability but then again I wasn't paying that much attention at the time to my phone.

Hill? I dont like the sound of that.

You probably won't like it much around here then :P

Phone network, I'm with O2, seems fine most places around here, as does Orange, vodafone etc.

Bike is a good idea, lots to see, lots of nice places to go etc, especially in the summer, Truro is about 8 miles from Falmouth so easily cycleable if that's your thing.

Also hows getting around? Am i gonna need to buy a car?
Id quite like to learn how to ride a motorbike while im down there..anyone know of any local schools?

Need, no, there are buses, trains etc, fairly regularly and resonably priced, however, a car will make your life easier. Getting somewhere like Perranporth from Falmouth on buses would be a nightmare with several changes and a ludicrous journey time, or 25 minutes driving.
There's a motorcycle school in Truro, I can't remember the name of it off the top of my head though.

Gyms yep, cheap gym in falmouth and truro, being a member of one lets you use the other.

Supermarkets, there's a colossal ASDA in Penryn, a coop and lidl in Penryn, Tesco, Sainsburys, Aldi and all the others you'd expect in Truro.

The nightlife isn't what it is in London, it's quiet and chilled out, there are plenty of nice pubs and bars around. Clubbing is a bit of a failure though, Newquay or Plymouth are probably the nearest places worth going.

In all it's a good place to live, I moved down about a year and a half ago now and love it, especially in the summer!

Sounds good...

RE the internet mentioned above..how is the general internet speed down here? am i stuck with a 2mb line? :( ive had 100mb for the last year so its gonna be a hell of a shock..

I am with UKFSN and get about 6meg usually, I'm fairly close to the Penryn exchange though, no idea where they are or what it's like in Falmouth.

And my brother is manager of HMV in Truro .... Hmmm, just wondering why all the family went down there and left me in Cheshire ...

I just applied there and got rejected. I hate your brother!

I get 6mb and live way out of Newquay. Btw the night life is only good in the summer. Everywhere is closed at the moment. Most bars shut at 11pm and I think last Saturday about 3 clubs were open.

But I am very biased. I hate this place, nothing to do and no jobs. :p
