Fan controller recommendations

Hi there,

I currently run 5 x 140 MM Corsair ML Pro white fans in my case
I cool my cpu with a H110i GTX

I'm looking for a fan controller, mostly so I can keep my cables neater and in one place (not running across the case/motherboard)
I'd also like it to be PWM compatible, all my fans are PWM and when I go WC I'll stick with the same fans in 120mm most likely

I'm also going to be going water cool when AMD vega launches, so would like something compatible with this

What would you guys recommend?
Will I really see a huge difference between the £40~ and £130 ones?
I'd rather not break the bank, less money for watercooling and corsair dominator that way ;)

Thanks lads/ladies

It will and it won't.

Your input for this device is a single 3/4 pin connector which'll likely have a maximum 1A from your motherboard.

Attaching 5 fans to a single fan connector isn't generally recommended and considering ML120s have a power rating of 0.225A you could be overloading your motherboard by 0.2A, which could lead to failure.

I was thinking more of one of these https://www.overclockers.co.uk/akasa-flexa-fp5s-5-fan-pwm-controller-ak-cbfa07-45-cb-079-ak.html or a Molex powered counterpart.

May not be as elegant but they do the job and take external power, only using the PWM signal to control.

If it were me I'd build a splitty 9 but throw some external power at it.

As Tealc said, a splitter or hub that uses PSU power is the way to go.
Swiftech and Phobya each make a nice PWM hub
Gelid makes a better 5-way PWM splitter than Akasa.
The Akasa has too many wires connecting into fan connectors with stiff heatshrink not being completely onto connector. This causes wires to flex only at connector, stress fatigue and breeak off. Gelid has single wire from connetor to distribution a few inches away from connector, so less problems with wire metal fatigue and less breaking.

I'm using this Phanteks hub and am happy with it. It is controlled through the cpu pwm fan header and so finer control is through the bios settings. Power is through a sata connection. I'm using it to power and control 8 fans.

Works fine for variable voltage fans .. which is what it is designed for.

It is not a PWM fan hub
It is PWM controlled adapter hub for the control of 3-pin variable voltage fans, not PWM fans. ;)
