Fan Question

Artic P Series would still be my go to choice - they still offer a decent amount of performance, whilst being relatively quiet, and at a fraction of the cost of other brands (e.g. Noctua)
Their performance is more than decent.
P12's A-RGB version spec sheet includes now P-Q curve and that's definitely toward the better end:
https://www.arctic.de/media/cb/67/c0/1638880679/Spec_Sheet_P12_PWM_PST_A-RGB_0dB_EN_white.pdf

Curve being on top right side of imaginary line from points curve crossing x and y axis tells blade geometry performs well in most conditions from high impedance to lowish impedance.
(that dip at almost zero back pressure is meaningless for real world use)

Wow those P Series fans are very well priced. Perhaps I could get a set of those and just use an RGB strip instead, probably a lot cheaper.
Arctic has RGB versions.

Decided on the Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black (single 120mm, if I need a second - I will add at a later date).
Brand overpriced.
Besides NF-F12 fan being acoustically at best very mediocre with restless noise profile from marketing BS design.

There are multiple clearly heavier duty coolers for less.
Fully black Alpenfohn Dolomit Premium being the latest.

Alpenfohn Dolomit Premium 120mm ARGB CPU Cooler - Black= £53.99

@EsaT thank you, temporarily held off on the Noctua. Only problem with the Alpenfohn is there isn't a great deal of information or reviews on it. Will have a proper look after work.

Edit - in fact, it's near impossible to even find mention of this cooler on OcUK or YouTube (unless I speak German) :p

Alpenfohn is heavily focused on central Europe/Germany+neighbouring countries in their sales.
And while they don't have marketing hype of Noctua, they make very good coolers.
Brocken 3 has been used in many builts.

Also they're offering free LGA1700 mounting kits.

What Capodecina said.
Alpenfohn is quite good.
Their Matterhorn (think it's discontinued now) was a great cooler.

Using RGB strip lighting is cheaper and easily done.

Ordered the Alpenfohn Dolomit Premium, 2 x 140mm Artic-P & 3 x 120mm Artic-P fans :).

Edit - was meant to arrive on Monday but just got it :D. Forgot how dense and heavy HSFs are.

Hhhmm the RGB header for the HSF looks proprietary/doesn't seem to connect to anything on my mobo.

Edit - needed to order a PWM fan hub but all good now. My application of the thermal compound was.......janky. But temps seem lower*. Fan curves next as the default setting is a little loud.

*I think my idles used to be high 40s/low 50s and admittedly, the fans are running faster than I want for idle right now but getting mid 30s-mid 40s.

So I have 3x120mm in the front with the top 2 being on the inside to allow a little more space for incoming air. And then 1x140mm at the back and another at the back top. I miss the pump/block from my Kraken with its funky RGB but seeing as my case is sandwiched in a cubby hole, you can't see anything any way.

Edit - quick blast on Prime95 seems to be settling on 60c. Nice.
