Fanboys

Quoted for truth. If two cards perform equally, I buy the cheapest in most cases. This is the reason I would buy an X1900XT over a 7900GTX any day, despite the fact that certain members here find that notion ridiculous and have fanboyish knee-jerk reactions when you bring it up impartially.

If you were even reading my posts while stalking me, you would know I think that's a fine reason to buy a 7900GTX instead, and it was fine for the guy in the other thread. Personally, I would just put a Zalman VF900-CU on an X1900XT, that's the best value that you can get for the performance of the X1900XT/7900GTX cards. Period.

However, like I said in the other thread also, but fanboys like yourself tend to ignore: Hardware modding is not for everyone, the guy in that thread said himself that he didn't feel comfortable with hardware modding using aftermarket coolers and voiding his warranty. So, as I said, for his needs the 7900GTX is fine, and I hope he has a blast playing games on it, because it's still a fantastic card.

So, please, before you try to put another "red-spin" on any more of my posts, engage your brain before engaging your mouth (or fingers, as the case may be.) If you actually read the other thread, you would know I don't think it's absurd to buy the cooler card if you're not comfortable with aftermarket cooler application.

People have different opinions. That's it. Though it's useless saying that because, well, trolls are trolls.

The best suggestion is for people to ignore the trolls. Just ignore 'em, RTM 'em, don't even bother replying.

Sorted

i agree with that statement entirely.
i wouldnt like to pay £300+ for a gfx card only to be screwing up the warranty for it by adding another cooler onto it straight away.
i along with others just like trouble free computing without modding too much and invalidating warranties etc.

Yep, it's a simple matter of preference. Do it cheaply and slap a VF900 on it cheaply if you're unhappy with the temps/noise, or do it for a bit more and rest assured it'll be cool and quiet out of the box.

I am a cheapy person, and I feel confident in doing it, but I don't understand this guy lashing out at me about it when I said I don't mind people spending a bit more.

Dunno about anyone else but I tend to get drawn into arguments too easily. I just don't like some people spouting lies/misinformation so I try and make the person seeking information get a better picture.

Some people think that because one card is dodgy in some way - all cards must be the same and will just jump in any thread and turn it into a flame fest without any intention of trying to help the poster - but rather force their oppinion on them.

The problems are down to the constant posts of "what should I get" or "which card is better". If these people would just look on the forum and find the answers themselves, rather than wishing to be spoon fed, then the repetition of fanboy threads would only come with the gfx card refreshes.
Also the 3dmark threads... jesus just look it up on the ORB. If the score is low and you want some pointers - ok.... but most of the time they are to be expected and no one cares. Except me.... in the negative sense :p

I never really respond directly to fanboy accusations or personal insults because they're always way off the mark, and you always know that when a poster lowers himself to that, he's lost...and he knows it ;)

I noticed this with the power supplies lol. I was gonna get a hiper thing so read on here and there like the best things since sliced bread.

Checked a few days ago again cos i got funds, now there the worst psu ever lol.

I hate reading threads on here that im interested in, only for it to end up getting locked by childish arguing :(

Some people are so obviously here only to spark arguments, its so obvious i dont know why they dont just get banned?

"its all about the benjamins baby"

If it's cheap, does what i want it to i dont care who makes it.

I'm with you on this one. I couldn't give a poo if Skoda (i know its VW now) had their name on the card if it perfomed the best at time of purchase I would buy it.

I think the majority of people in this forum have used both ATI cards and NV cards.

I have down the years.

Why would someone using a ATI gain your "respect" as you put it?
These posts are becoming stale IMO.I have installed a x1900 xtx decided to keep my GTX.

Why is this a problem?

TBH are you not typing through a red filter coming out with stuff like that?
Respect of what? knowledge, judgement? I'm a bit lost tbh.

Does having an ATI x1900 in my sig gain me more respect?
Don't you think its slightly Totalitarian?

I bought an x1900xtx to see if it was that much better than my GTX.
I installed it ,benched it,played games with it,and sent it back.It wasn't for me for reasons previously mentioned.

Does that make me a bad person?
I mean come on its a gfx card nothing more nothing less

Easyrider, i think it's common respect for a fellow overclocker. We tend to push our hardware to the max and it's thanks to the advice from guys like him, Jimbo mahoney etc that my rig is so bloody fast right now. He also probably realises that i'm no company fanboy after all :p

Can anyone on these forums actually say that they have stuck with one manufacturer or the other?

I can't imagine anyone who can honestly say they have only EVER purchased ati cards (or nvidia cards).

I think people just like a good argument OR that they are a bit miffed that they spent £300+ on a card a few months ago and it's already been superseeded with a better model. I think a lot of people are trynig to justify their purchase to themselves. The thing is, nobody else cares

I think in all my years of pc building I have had pretty much a 50/50 mix

i have always bought ati cards, but thats because either i got it cheap, or it was the best value at the time theres *hopefully* a 6800le on its way to me however ;)
