ooooh I love these hypotheticals!!!

It reminds me of the futurama episode where fry finds he still has a bank account from 1000 years ago!

Even if you are unable to travel, you'll still be starting one long term savings account that's for sure. Someone in xHundred years is going to be thankful!

Oh lighten up, do you know how much money we all waste through some means or other... whether it be drinking, smoking, things we buy and never use etc etc. £5 is a complete drop in the ocean of money I have wasted on absolute crap in my life.

At the very least it will get me a certificate that I can use as an amusing talking point when people come over to mine. I paid the money with the full realisation that the chances of it actually happening are a bazillion to one, but it amused me greatly and thus is deemed worthy in my eyes. Plus the tiny little science-fiction geek corner of me that will hold the most insanely ridiculous notion plausible demands it.

Whilst I haven't bought this passage to the future.. Actually paying $10 for the fake hope of this ever coming true might lighten my dull and uninteresting life for one minute, so who says it isn't worth paying?
 
I made an identical thread a few months ago about the very same concept (however i actually thought it up) and it got locked.

Basically, I thought, well, if I had amazing willpower, then I could force my self in my will to make sure that I would get something from the future and have it sent back through time to where I am right now.

you hypocrites, locking some threads and allowing others.

I have just thought of a way we can all do this for free. The best bit is it requires you to have sex (not with each other). All it requires is passing the idea to your offspring & they pass it on to there children & so on untill its gets to a member of your family in future when time travel is availble.

So everyone make a mental note to yourself right now & then hopefully it should happen instantly :p

It is likely that by the time time travel is invented capitolism will have collapsed and we will be living in a marxist world where your money is worthless ;/
 
Just got back from the future.

Big disappointment, not a single giant Gorilla or Alien in sight... and they traded in marshmallows :O

Yep, and as we all know, going faster than light will be a piece of cake.

We just need to figure out how to go faster than something going at the same speed faster than us relative to however fast we're going. :o
 
get two spaceships. Get each one to go more than half the speed of light. Fly them towards each other and relative to each other they have both broken the speed of light
