Fans?

Apparently, Apache fans are not that great with radiators because of their low static pressure. As mentioned above I would go for the Sycthe Gentle Typhoon.

Yeah, that's why I posted this in watercooling now overclocking and cool. A lot of people who don't watercool don't realise the importance of static pressure.

I'll take a look at the scythe gentle typhoons and see if I can find some reviews on them. I guess I could always mount my sunbeam controller in reverse on the inside or build a bracket for it or something.

U have a fan controller so get the GT's (AP-15).

Just to let OP know, this is proper model name/number for GT 1850rpm. Also check out the link below. They tested so many fans including the GT AP-15 with watercooling in mind.

I've used yates, sythe GT's, scythe flex. sharkoon silent eagles and zalman ZMF3 on various rads.

And I can honestly say that if you stick them on a fan controller and run them at about 1000rpm you would be hard pressed to tell the difference in performance. Each has their own noise at about 1000rpm with the eagles being the quietest follwed by the GT's which have quite a pleasant hum. Running them about 600-750 and they are all silent.

Condsidering the above I chose the zalmans simply because they can be had for 4 quid. I have 14 of these running in my rig (3 rads) and run them all at 660 when gaming and tuen all but 3 off when doing anything else. The rig is slient apart from the hum of my samsung F3's kicking in every now and again.

For quality however the GT's are by far the best. The balance is quite unbelievable, you can power off the fans and they are still spinning long after all others have ground to a halt. F3 quality isn't so great, the balance can be off and you get the occasional one with bad motor noise.

Depends on your budget all in all.

Actually (so we are led to believe) the apache has the same static pressure as the 1850rpm Gentle typhoon. It does state 2.64 for the apache and 2.1 for the GT.

All heatsinks and rads benefit from better static pressure, especially when the fins are tight together.

I have yet to see a decent review though pitting the apache against the gt1850 and comparing the static pressure.

I have the ECO ALC with apache's and its a lot better than other fans i used. Another guy here did have apache on his rads and changed them to the gt1450 and got identical results. This could then open the way for the 1850GT to be better.....

Mostly GT's get recommended as they are easier to adapt and control via a controller being 3 pin not 4.

Just my 2p worth, I did a lot of looking into it before i bought up.

Just been browsing and found the new 5400rpm gentle typhoons :) 20 quid each but if you want a mini helicopter in your room and some serious cooling power get them!

Wow, some of these fans are expensive. I think I might end up sticking with yates. I can't see myself spending £100 on fans when I could get away with £20.
