Fantasy F1 2011, with league.

1st week results are tough to establish a trend, I still think that over the year, things will settle much more, for one thing, nobody really expected petrov to suddenly get a podium finish, or perez to get a points finish in his first race.. these first couple of races each year, are always a bit of a lucky dip, as people get back into the swing of things and adjust to the new rules etc..

I had forgotten about this... 40th place eek! Think i perhaps mis-named my team :p

How it looks at the top at the moment...

I wish I hadn't been so confident in both Williams drivers before the season kicked off...

Maldonaldo AND Barrichello weighing me down.
Di Resta and Kobayashi were good choices though. :)
Alonso... Well, obviously.

I believed williams saying this was a year to build on the success of last year, I was going to try and better 7th too :( 32nd so far...

Only positive is my points have slowly been building, should have chosen Vettel though

I can't see Ferrari catching up, McLaren on the other hand are probably more likely than anyone to get close

I don't think anyone is going to out do the RBR car on outright pace this year though, maybe come within a couple of tenths and the driver making up the rest though

My belief is, that unless mclaren/ferrari really pull something out of the bag, redbull will pretty much be 1/2 in most races, and even those where they struggle, I dont think they'll drop much, they do seem to be staying one step ahead, while other teams make rookie errors. Based solely on last years form, I'm happy that I stuck with both redbull drivers, yes webber has had a poor start, but he's consistent, and once the gremlins are gone, I think him and vettel will be very difficult to beat. Which really leaves me with my third driver, which could only be fred or hammy, and much as I dislike him, I think fred will prove to be more of a reliable points scorer over the year, especially if the team repeat last year and put their eggs in his basket at the expense of massa. I think that Hammy has too much to worry about with button peering over his shoulder, to stand much chance. Great to see the two duking it out like they did at istanbul, but not so good for the points.

I made my choice, I'm stuck with it now, Vettel, Webber and Fred, and last week.. couldn't have been much better..

I'm not sure how this fantasy league works, but surely you can't just buy Vettel, Alonso and Webber...there has to be some form of limitation, otherwise, everybody would just pick those 3 (or even Vettel, Alonso and Hamilton). What is the limitation here, if any?

Ok, but do you think Hamilton/McLaren will be able to mount any sort of challenge against Vettel or is this year's title race a forgone conclusion?

I think it is possible, if Hamilton keeps his cool and keeps finishing races rather than making silly mistakes

That does rely on Vettel not getting on pole for every race though, I think a bit of wet weather will stir things up

That's exactly what I did, I picked Vettel, Webber and Alonso, and am currently sitting in 3rd

It's actually pretty good when watching the races as well - I'd much prefer Button and Hamilton to win but if they don't I know I'm at least going to do well in the league. It's a win-win situation.

It's easy really, pre-season you could chose between two team strategies, a 40mil cap, that allows you to buy and sell drivers all year, or a 45mil cap, that restricted your team changes to pre-season only.

With 45 mil, you could purchase 3 of the top tier drivers, but you are stuck with them all year, with no changes, so if fred were to crash horribly into vettel and the resulting explosion was to take out webber also, and all three were unable to race again, I'd be stuffed..

Its a gamble.. perhaps I should have shown more brit loyalty and gone for hammy instead of webber perhaps, but I'm pretty sure that webber will be a good rear guard for vettel as the year goes on, especially once the rbr kers gremlins are gone. And we've seen it before that alonso makes very good second half comebacks, whereas hammy can falter
