FAO Mods

personally id take a 0 tolerance type movement

any argueing or sly comments just delete them. Constructive comments would be fine.

Why are people crying out for moderation, arn't they big and ugly enough to not go into threads or ignore stuff they don't like?

OcUK are the most heavily moderated and least tolerent forums i visit and yet you get folk crying out for even more, I really can't figure it!

Funny, I actually thought this place had gotten more interesting recently, what with people actually bothering to debate stuff, instead of the usual New Game Screenshots OMG! threads. I quite liked arguing about the Wii's graphical power, and think that there's a good argument to be had about the pros and cons of Forza's detail. What ruins the threads for me isn't the actual arguments, it's the million and one people that seem to pop up after it's started and abuse anyone involved in it, without actually providing any counter-argument of their own. Everyone gangs up on dirtydog because heaven forbid he bring any salient point to the table, and yet they best they can respond with is "OH HERE'S DIRTYDOG SUPRISE  YAWN". 20 of those spam a thread, and way to go Shakespeares, that's some constructive thread making. I was going to get involved in one of the Forza threads earlier, but I gave up because I know everybody would have just rolleyed me to death, or some such nonsense.

People need to be less bloody sensitive. The problem isn't those who are arguing, it's those who seem to think we should all just shut up and get along.

Anyone got some links to threads or posts that they believe are breaking the rules?

Any of the forza thread for example, to which I have sent RTM's, sent the links within the email I originally sent,

hillys really asking to be a mod. i can tell :o

That's how it looks to me when people make threads like this, or are overly-do gooder on here.

I read this forum more than any of the others on OCUK and don't see anything wrong with it.

Here is one, the amount of Mod talking is wayyyyyy past what used to be allowed. Even mentioning modding was a thread locked and the key thrown away. This thread openly discusses how the new update didn't affect modded consoles, a subject that used to be very taboo.

Now i am not bringing this to light to get folk into trouble or anything like that, like i said before locking the thread was the most that was ever done, but the fact it is still open and got to 4 pages is mental. Not only that, it was a duplicate post to begin with.

I also know it had at least 1 RTM, and i am pretty sure it had at least one other.

Can you clarify if there was rule breaking going on in that thread? I remember a thread asking if you could even discuss ROM's in the PC section got locked a couple of weeks ago, and that was following an article in PC Gamer, i can't remember who started the thread sorry, but i know it was a regular. But i can't see how this is different, in fact i think it is worse.

Actually mod talk has increased in general in here over the past month or so.

Yes that thread broke the rules within the first few posts and it has now gone to hell. Thanks JUMPURS

How about the thread recommending to buy Crackdown from a competitor? That was around for days, cant be bothered to look for it at there is no search at the moment. There need to be more active moderation in this section for sure, there is far too much bitching goes on which puts people off from reading certain threads.

The moderation when applied is fine to me, but there just isnt a mod who frequents these parts enough.

But the thing is, i know i RTM'd it after about a page, and i could guess at someone else who probably RTM'd it also, yet it stayed.

Are our RTM's being ignored?? :( doesn't anyone love us here anymore?? :(

Ohhh yeah i forgot about that one Roboffer, with the competitor in the subject

this is my favourite part of the ocuk forums, things that are posted that seem to be blatantly flamebait or people trolling threads in which they have no vested interest other than to spew hate really annoy me but instead of responding in a like manner I am going to ignore the comments and carry posting in relation to the original subject instead of allowing myself to be side tracked. discussion, heated or not is good and I don't want to see that stopped due to the fanboys

To be fair, I think Mr Men had to put up with a fair bit of crap. It isn't all one sided. :)

Paul
After reading some of the threads I've been linked to I tend to agree with this.
