*** Far Cry 2 1680 x 1050 max settings Top List ***

Hmm was expecting better, i noticed most of you use Intel cpu's is this where my problem is ? or a bios setting ? or something not supported fully.

maybe its the 512mb ram looks like the 1gb on the x2 has its advantages.

any help would be apprechiated just seems quite a bit off the mark

mobo is asus M3A79-T deluxe.

Graphics memory size means nothing, its all about the speed. There are lots of crappy 1gb cards out there such as the dredded 9600GT etc that basically get owned by lesser 512 cards.

How do they get owned by lesser cards...?

The 9600GT (512mb and 1024mb) are quite good cards.

Here's my proper results, ran the wrong benchmark alst time.

I didnt say lesser cards i said lesser memory size cards.. ok then e.g: 512mb 8800 Ultra/GTX etc

You said "lesser 512" cards... that means slower cards with 512mb memory. More memory can be helpful in some situations, such as with high AA/High resolution.

For example:

In FarCry 2 @ 1920x1200 the 4870 1024mb is 22% faster than the 512mb version of the same card.

What I meant was memory size is not AS important. Any by the looks of it so far the FC2 benchmark test (especially the one above) is really scewed up with messy results, not a proper card comparison if you ask me.

specs are Q6600 @ 3ghz, 8800GTX @ 612/1620/2000, 8GB ddr2, Vista 64

I'm stunned it came out so well tbh, dropping to optimal at 1680x1050 with 2x aa and it ran at over 40fps which is fine for me. Hell it even runs ok at 1920x1200.

Either these guys are doing something very right or crysis was doing something very wrong. Think its perhaps a bit of both. Plus the people look a bit dodgy so maybe it doesn't look as nice as crysis? Dunno, looks great with the fire :)

strange i did some proper testing on my setup, i removed one 4870 totally ran the bench and got 35fps , i then swapped the other 4870 in and got 35fps just to prove both cards worked fine.

i then put both cards in at once checked they were running at x16 and both crossfire bridges were on then ran the test again and got 35fps.

i even updated the bios on the video cards from sapphire ran the test again 35fps

can somone with a similar setup post there detailed spec to see if i can spot something amiss ?

sorry to take the thread up with this issue but its really bugging me now was up until 3am and spent most of this morning at it

thanks
