Far Cry 3 Thread

So, started playing again and not long after the start of the game.

I'm casually about to dip my toes into a lake to gather blue plants, suddenly CROCODILE!!!

I screamed, like a little girl. After a quick rambo style battle. I now don't care I have 10 hours to make up on again, love it :) Oh and I will be sticking to the bow more this time, even though I love silenced snipers much more :(

Just bought it from cddiski on reccomendation from other people here...but it's in russian, any help on changing the language would be great ;)

EDIT: Downloaded a language selector, was a tad bit of hassle but definately worth saving about 20 quid for, and yes Snodge the website is legit.

EDIT 2: Ok so it's still in Russian, help required.

Christ, there goes my Saturday, 9 and a half hours played today. Been a while since I played one game for so long at a time!!

Radio Tower with 4 guards around it....so I thought I would put a few mines down just as a back up. If my surprise attack goes wrong and they call for reinforcements at least I might stand a chance....I stealthed two of them and then the other guy saw me and started shouting, then two jeeps turned up(very quickly:rolleyes:). Boom, Boom...I just stabbed the guy running away and watched the rest explode:cool:

The weapons feel good, the world is pretty, some of the waterfalls look pretty god damned awesome and its one of the few games I quite like the feel of swimming/going underwater, seeing the world above from under water.

Things that suck, you start the game with access to basically all weapons, you can afford any weapon you want instantly, it gives you more for free, there is so much money available the idea of getting free guns becomes worthless, and the idea of working towards better guns is non existant, these things are important in giving you a reason to explore and get better stuff.

Loot, ffs, the story is you were kidnapped, and now trying to save people, wtf do I want with money or "loot", its got loads of loot boxes, because other games like Borderlands are all about the loot, and game dev's think opening thousands of boxes is fun... its not, it might be if you got new/special weapons.... you don't.

THe game world is (afaik) completely open from the first minute, but it desparately needs some progression, working towards guns, and changing the enemies, having more dangerous enemies and different styles of area geared towards different weapons you need some level of staging.

Outposts that sit either end of a bridge, with some basically unpassably difficult till you get to a certain point in a game, so you get essentially area's you level up towards like most games, otherwise, its just daft.

Theres no, well, I feel as strong when I started the game as 5-10 hours later, the enemies haven't changed AT ALL, tactics, weapons, anything. They are easy to kill, never patrol in large groups and there doesn't seem to be more than 5 at the camps, making them pee easy to despatch.

I have mines and C4, and have not once felt the need to use them, ambush a patrol and its so hard and there is so many, the only way is to scout ahead, and booby trap the route... nothing yet, nothing close. There hasn't been a single complex attack.

Open world is fine, but without any feeling of progression or moving on, why am I doing half the stuff I'm doing? Its not particularly fun and there is zero reward? I can carry 10 more arrows? But I don't NEED 10 more arrows, so why do I care? Help man X out to get access to a new weapon/attachment/increased health potion. Sure, kill an animal so I can hold 10 more mines I never find any use for to start with because you let me buy a sniper rifle that makes the game painfully easy at the very start of the game.....

Far Cry 2 its feeling more and more like, fixed some things(making area's safe and without the travelling issues) but making it FAR too easy.

Havent played the game my self, but one review I read basically said to get a challenge out of the game try playing it on hard.

When this game is good, it is incredibly good. With a bit of ironing out it could have been truly spectacular.

I was stalking a patrol of 4 guys, suddenly I heard a massive roar...there was a tiger behind me readying itself to pounce...so I just ran blindly towards the patrol and then ducked out of sight and the tiger attacked them and nearly took them all out. I only had to kill one of them.

No ammo used and a nice tiger skin out of it:cool:

ON another forum a guy suggests this to make more fun/harder:

Some tips to make the game more interesting though: Turn off the aim assist, the crosshair, the tagging with your weapon and play it on the hardest difficulty. And don't use the camera to scout an outpost or you'll ruin your experience with the stupid wallhack.

Nope, you're gonna have to play in Dx9 mode.

What the heck are you on about? 30fps on medium with 2 670s?!

I play on Ultra with 1 670, dx11, all those stupid fancy settings on and run it at around 60fps with v-sync. Drops to 50 now and again, but generally good. With a 2500k clocked at 4.4 too.

One of the outposts i was about to take was not taken by me...

I used the somewhat silly wallhack camera to scout the place out, took one guy out with my M-700 silently, went over to loot him (bulding between me and the rest of the enemies) and I look over to my right and see a tiger approaching, it didnt seem to notice me but was certainly stalking me for a moment.

I ran back up the hill from where I used the camera and noticed the tiger moving through the outpost and beyond the building to kill 3 guys while I headshot'd the last one (didn't seem to nice too letting the tiger die).

That is why i like Open world games. ;)

it's because you've clocked your CPU. If you hadn't done that, you'd have to play it on low-medium.
