Far Cry 3 Thread

Yes, but you'll be disappointed as from what I've read, the people who have got it on Steam in America etc., none of them have Steam features, it's literally an over glorified shortcut from your library.

Pretty much this. Pressing play within Steam opens up Uplay giving me the option to then launch the game. Steam doesn't list you as in a game while playing, nor does it even list that I've even played the game. The only upside is updates are pushed out via Steam.

Yeah. :(

If you want Far Cry 3, best bet is straight from Uplay, least then you don't have to have two pieces of DRM running while you play, I've just embraced it tbh, got Origin, Uplay and Steam all on my rig, meh, had worse things on here. :D

No activation key for me, checking both Hotmail and the Order Details.

I got it fine from GMG cost me £22.50 because of the discount code and i had £2 credit.
I don't like the capsule down load took about an hour and a half to down not to bad i suppose.
Word of warning people with not much room especialy on your SSD you need about 27 gig free.
First you down load the 8.8 gig then it installs it ready to install finaly for the main install!
I have played about an hour good so far seems to be a few grphical glitches i have noticed, i have a 7970.
Just on optimum settings but i will play with the settings at a later time.
Thanks

GMG's Capsule client acts purely as a downloader for the install files. Once FC3 is installed, you just use UPlay to play the game.

Yeh it takes a lot of space initially, but you can remove the downloaded FC3 files after installing Far Cry 3 -> go to "clear game cache" in the settings menu of Capsule.

It is a good game, but I am not liking the UI at all . A map/compass and journal similar to FC2 would have been nicer....or maybe he could use his phone in a similar way to the pipboy in FO?...just seems a bit lazy tbh. In fact I am finding quite a few niggly little things atm. Quite a few things in this game, including the menu system and map reminds me of Assassin's Creed, anyone else think that? (radio towers/viewpoints, open world and then restrictive during missions)

PS I heard a wolf howl just now as I was stalking with my bow....I could have sworn I was playing Skyrim!

Random drops to 52 when in cars etc but not lower.

Running on a I5 2500k at 4.5 and a single xfx 7970.

Nice game so far just a bit annoying menu's etc.[/QUOTE]

What software is that to show how many frames per second? Gpu-z?

AS someone said on the ubisoft forums, its a French company, a US release time for the UK release date.... completely ridiculous.

While people who didn't buy from Ubisoft got their keys early and can add the game, I mean, if there was a time release thing on Uplay so people with a key couldn't unlock it till the release date you'd understand, most other platforms do that..... but when the client doesn't even lock you out, its just they won't add the game for people who bought direct from Uplay, its just daft. All this when the game is out almost everywhere else.

I really don't understand who comes up with all these ridiculous deals, and why in the age of the internet something isn't just released, when its released, one date, one time, world wide. Also what kinda stupid company won't do a preload for everything, reduces the load on their network massively. If there are X amount of keys release 20% a day from a week before release, stagger the load, let everyone who wants to play on launch.

Same goes for just about everything, film, tv, games. Especially as EVERY time the game still gets hacked, always is available BEFORE the official release.... if the game is ready, then just release it, you'd get less pirates, less problems, less irate customers. How on earth do they justify staggered release dates and 90% of the planet having access to the pirate versions of games first and DRM as being the fight against piracy.
