Far Cry 3 Thread

Started playing this over the weekend, great game but the performance is fairly horrible, especially during the cut scene stuff, any guides to getting it running better?

runs like a dream here tbh, did have a few probs at the start, all now sorted, had faulty ram.

but in dx11 with either a Intel Core i7 2700K 3.50GHz @ 4.20GHz DDR3 Overclocked with a HD 7970 3072MB PCI-Express Graphics Card or my other system,

AMD Bulldozer FX-4 4100 3.60GHz @ 4.20GHz DDR3 and a 7870 GHz Edition 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card both will (should be) 16gb ram, but sent it back so running i7 with only 8gb

everything on max ultra with good fps, latest patch 1.4 with amd beta drivers.

if your using sli, then you need to wait for better drivers and another update / patch as far too many have probs with sli in the game, no fix as yet

crosfire equiped pc's dont have the issue either

I a just starting with FarCry3. With my 4.4Ghz i5 and 7950 I only seem to get 40 fps. That is running 1080p with the optimal settings. I thinks everything is on high with 4 menu items on very high (not sure which ones right now - they are the only ones that go to very high though). I am using 12.11 b4 but can't use the latest 12.11 b11 as it makes my computer crash.

Anyone got any some good settings to get me up to 60fps?

Any tips ? I was think putting post processing to medium, and lighting to medium. I am surprised a 7950 @ 1150mhz is having issues to be honest.

Anyone getting random erros?

Keep getting a Kmode Exception not handled error randomly at the moment which is killing the game and blue screening in windows 8..

No issues when playing COD or Crysis 2 or Skyrim

prob FC3 uses additional processing, or a different part of your GPU that wasn't stable at the clocks

I've had weird instances with this before, a game or benchmark that should max out a GPU - stable at a certain clock, yet run another "perceived" game that doesn't seem to stress the card as much, issues, instability.

just means the card is not fully stable

I really want to buy this game! Think it's a good idea to wait until January exams are over though, they never seem to accept the 'I was too busy to revise because I was saving the virtual world' excuse

Any Mods, fixes of anything to stop your superhero from dying everytime he falls more than about three feet. The fall damage is ridiculous and infuriating.

Sounds like your having a similar issue that i had. Either finish your mission or go to your next mission and complete it. My game had a weird glitch where all the animals in the game disappeared.

The animals are not that hard to find. It definitely wouldnt take longer than a few minutes looking around the area they are supposed to be in.

Hope this helps in some way :)

Ta, I'll give that a go.

That's a clever little tool, cheers for the info and link.

I'm just starting this game. Seems really good so far. Probably the best looking game I've ever played too.

But do any of you have any tips for someone using a 2500k and 7970 as far graphics settings go? I've got it maxed out with 4xMSAA and it runs okay with v-sync off, but then I get tearing. If I enable v-sync I seem to be getting capped at 30 FPS whereas I would rather have it capped at 60.

This game looks absolutely glorious, and I'm only on a GTX275. Fairly near the end of the story missions at the moment, and the game has been a hoot to play from the beginning.
